Dave Grohl has shared new insight into his home life, talking about how he reconnects with his family after spending time away on tour with Foo Fighters.

Speaking on The Dish podcast in an episode released on April 22, the 57-year-old musician spoke about returning home to his wife, Jordyn Blum, and their three daughters, Violet Maye (20), Harper Willow (17), and Ophelia Saint (11).

Grohl said that coming back home usually starts with something simple and personal. He explained that he likes to cook for his family right after touring. He said, “The first thing I do when I come home from being on tour is I like to cook for the family.”

He also described the kind of meals he prepares, saying he often makes comfort food like pasta or roast dinners. He added, “Whether it’s making a roast over the weekend or it’s a pasta, I usually bring the comfort, like I’m home and I bring the comfort to the kids.”

The musician also shared that his children have sometimes joined him while he is on the road. He mentioned traveling with them to cities like Milan and Stockholm. He said those experiences helped them understand more of the world around them, explaining, “It really sort of broadens their whole scope or idea of everything.”

Grohl’s family life has also included difficult moments. In 2024, he revealed that he had welcomed a fourth daughter outside of his marriage. At the time, he posted on Instagram saying, “I plan to be a loving and supportive parent to her. I love my wife and my children, and I am doing everything I can to regain their trust and earn their forgiveness.”

Since then, he has spoken about working on himself. In March, he revealed that he has been going to therapy regularly, sometimes several times a week. He explained that the process has made him reflect on his life, saying, “I think that for many reasons, I wound up in a place that I needed to stop and sit with myself and re-evaluate myself. It’s an ongoing process.”

It’s clear he is trying to stay close to his family while also dealing with personal mistakes in a serious way. Cooking for his kids and spending time with them shows he values those connections.
