Charlie Cox Wants ‘Daredevil’ to Finally Team Up With Spider-Man and the Avengers

Charlie Cox has quietly become one of the most beloved figures in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and ‘Daredevil: Born Again‘ has given the actor a platform that the original Netflix run never quite could. With the show’s second season wrapping up on Disney+ to significant fan reaction, the conversation around where the Man Without Fear fits into the larger MCU has never felt more alive.

Cox’s journey back into the franchise has been one of Marvel’s most celebrated second acts. After a years-long absence following the cancellation of his Netflix run, he re-emerged as Matt Murdock with a cameo in ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home‘, then moved through ‘She-Hulk: Attorney at Law’ and a guest appearance in ‘Echo’, with ‘Daredevil: Born Again’ ultimately absorbing the Defenders-era continuity into MCU canon.

Now, speaking to TheWrap at the Chicago Comic and Entertainment Expo following the Season 2 finale, Cox opened up about the specific kind of crossover he has been dreaming about. He pointed directly to Tom Holland’s Spider-Man and the Avengers, floating an idea that would turn the usual dynamic on its head. He pointed to a well-known comic book arc in which Peter Parker dons the Daredevil suit to help maintain Matt Murdock’s secret identity, a story beat Cox has long wanted to see translated onto screen. “It’d be so cool to kind of have some kind of crossover with all of the Avengers, with Spider-Man as Daredevil, rather than as Matt Murdock, all of that kind of stuff,” he said.

The timing of the comments carries extra weight given how deeply Cox’s corner of the MCU is already bleeding into the Spider-Man universe. Jon Bernthal is already confirmed to appear in ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ as the Punisher, a character who originated in Cox’s Netflix run and carried through into ‘Born Again’ Season 1. The film’s first trailer also appears to confirm the presence of the Hand, the ancient ninja organization that served as a central antagonist across multiple seasons of the original Netflix ‘Daredevil’ series.

Cox himself has been candid that his wishes and the current Marvel roadmap are not yet in sync. Appearing on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, Cox acknowledged that Marvel has been clear with him for the time being, telling him his focus should remain on the show rather than film crossovers. He also confirmed that he will not be appearing in either ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ or ‘Avengers: Secret Wars’, at least based on what he has currently been told.

Still, Cox has given every signal that patience is part of his plan for the character. He pointed to the growing bridge between his world and the film side of the MCU, noting that his own cameo in ‘No Way Home’, D’Onofrio’s appearances in ‘Hawkeye’ and ‘Echo’, and Bernthal’s upcoming role in ‘Brand New Day’ have made a bigger crossover feel genuinely available rather than just theoretical.

With ‘Born Again’ Season 3 already in development and the identity reveal of Season 2 reshaping everything Matt Murdock stands for, the idea of Daredevil standing shoulder to shoulder with the Avengers feels less like a fantasy and more like an inevitability worth waiting for. If Cox gets his wish and Spider-Man eventually suits up alongside Daredevil, which version of that comic book team-up would you most want to see brought to life?
