‘The Boys’ Cast Bids Tearful Farewell as Final Season Officially Wraps

Saying farewell to a beloved cast is never easy, and for the team behind ‘The Boys,’ that moment has finally arrived. The fifth season of Prime Video’s violent, satirical superhero series officially wrapped production, marking the end of an era for the show’s cast and crew. The series has spent years subverting the superhero genre with dark humor and biting social commentary.

Fans got an inside look at just how emotional that final day truly was. A clip shared by DiscussingFilm on X showed the cast saying goodbye to the crew after wrapping their final scenes, with Antony Starr still in costume as Homelander inside the show’s recreated Oval Office set. The post quickly racked up over a million views as fans flooded the replies reflecting on the end of the journey.

Showrunner Eric Kripke posted his own emotional farewell, sharing a photo of himself overlooking the Seven’s meeting room before it gets demolished. “This is the last time I’ll ever be on this set. It’ll be torn down soon. It’s bittersweet, but my primary feeling is gratitude,” he wrote. He added that the show had the best cast and crew and the most fun story to write, calling the timing of the project something nearly impossible to predict.

The cast clearly felt the weight of the moment as well. Jack Quaid, who plays Hughie Campbell, opened up about the experience in an interview conducted just before filming concluded. “It’s just getting more and more surreal that I’m going to have to start saying goodbye to Hughie Campbell,” he told The Hollywood Reporter. “It’s emotional. It’s bittersweet. This show has done everything for me. I love it. I love the people. I’m going to miss everyone so much, and it’s going to be weird without it.”

Quaid also praised the finale Kripke crafted, saying he was proud of what the team accomplished this season and that it’s a great ending, which he noted is a notoriously hard thing to pull off in television. The established cast is expected to return for the finale, including Karl Urban, Erin Moriarty, Antony Starr, Jessie T. Usher and Laz Alonzo, though Victoria Neuman’s fate in season 4 means actress Claudia Doumit is not expected back.

‘The Boys,’ based on the comic series by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson, first premiered in 2019 and earned seven Emmy nominations along the way, including a win for outstanding stunt coordination. Kripke had previously admitted to feeling a fair amount of terror about sticking the landing on a series finale, noting how few shows in television history have managed to pull one off well. Now that the cameras have stopped rolling for good, the goodbye between cast and crew feels like the true closing scene of the entire saga. With Homelander and Butcher’s war finally settled, how do you think ‘The Boys’ stuck the landing on its grand finale?
