‘The Acolyte’ Season 2 Almost Took Star Wars Somewhere It Had Never Gone Before
Few ‘Star Wars‘ shows have stirred as much conversation as ‘The Acolyte’. It arrived with a bold High Republic-era premise and a growing legion of fans, and it ended after a single season. Even now, 2 years after its finale, new details about what might have been keep surfacing.
The show’s romantic undercurrent was always part of the appeal. In the sixth episode, Qimir strips down for a swim while Osha watches, a moment that Nerdist described as the closest ‘Star Wars’ had come to full nudity in almost 50 years. The camera stopped short of showing anything explicit, but the scene was coded as pure seduction and became a viral fan favorite.
Now a fresh claim has put that dynamic back in the spotlight. Star Wars Holocron reported on X that ‘The Acolyte’ Season 2 would have featured the first-ever sex scene in ‘Star Wars’, crediting the account @KnightGambit as its source. According to the post, the scene would have shown Qimir and Osha in a Force meditation tank as their consciousness intertwines with the Force.
The post has pulled in 291.2K views, 3.9K likes, 182 reposts, and 304 replies since going up on September 20. It is worth stressing that the claim comes from a single source and has not been confirmed by Lucasfilm or Disney. Treat it as a rumor until someone with direct knowledge says otherwise.
Reactions were mixed, as you would expect for a topic this divisive. One reply with more than 500 likes said they were glad the show had been canceled, while others in the thread debated whether such a scene fits the franchise at all. The image attached to the post shows Osha holding a red lightsaber close to Qimir against a seaside backdrop, a fitting reminder of how charged their relationship was.

The idea is not entirely out of nowhere. Manny Jacinto, who plays Qimir, has said a version of the season finale was filmed with Osha and Qimir sharing a kiss. He explained it was cut because it didn’t feel appropriate so soon after Qimir killed her friends and she killed her father figure Sol.
Creator Leslye Headland has also discussed the pair’s dynamic. She told Entertainment Weekly the team wanted a moment of intimacy showing mutual respect and an allegiance, with romantic overtones, and that a kiss was definitely on the table. The finale ultimately ended with the two holding hands at sunset, and Jacinto teased that a romance could be explored later if the show continued.
Beyond the romance, other reports have hinted at big ambitions for the follow-up. Coverage from Inside the Magic said plans pointed to Qimir’s connection to the sequel trilogy, an exploration of Darth Plagueis and a morally gray take on Yoda. Headland’s comments also suggested Qimir could have been the first Ren.
None of that reached the screen. The eight-episode run ended without a renewal, and trade reporting cited soft viewership as the main reason. Many fans argued that online criticism aimed at the show’s themes and performers played a role, though Disney never said so.

That leaves the story in an odd place, with a rumor about a season nobody will ever see. Whether the meditation-tank scene was ever truly planned may never be answered, especially without a second source. Still, the reaction shows how much this pairing still gets people talking.
Would you have wanted The Acolyte Season 2 to explore Qimir and Osha’s relationship further?
