Where to Turn After ‘Kill Jackie’ for More Assassin Revenge Thrillers
‘Kill Jackie’ premieres on October 2 and stars Catherine Zeta-Jones as Jackie Price, a former international cocaine dealer who has spent two decades living in luxury. Her comfortable life is upended when she learns that The Seven Demons, a group of feared hitmen, have been hired to kill her.
Viewers searching for shows like ‘Kill Jackie’ will find plenty of overlap in the crime and revenge thriller space. The series adapts The Price You Pay, a novel by Nick Harkaway written under the name Aidan Truhen. The adaptation comes from Tom Butterworth, whose credits include ‘Gangs of London’, and he also serves as showrunner. The titles below each echo a different part of that formula.
‘Gangs of London’

Created by Gareth Evans and Matt Flannery, ‘Gangs of London’ premiered on Sky Atlantic in April 2020 and follows rival criminal organizations in the capital. The story begins when Finn Wallace, the city’s most powerful criminal, is assassinated and nobody knows who ordered the killing.
Tom Butterworth is listed among its executive producers, which gives it a direct link to ‘Kill Jackie’. Evans has said he wanted to bring the large scale action he developed in Indonesia into the series. In the United States it streams on AMC+.
‘The Gentlemen’

Guy Ritchie created this Netflix crime series, which premiered in March 2024 and stars Theo James. Eddie Horniman becomes the new Duke of Halstead and inherits an estate with an illegal weed farm hidden beneath it.
The Irish Times described ‘Kill Jackie’ as a thriller in the style of Tarantino meets Guy Ritchie, so the connection is easy to see. Daniel Ings appears in both series. A second season has now premiered and a third has been ordered.
‘MobLand’

The Paramount+ series centers on two warring London families and the loyal fixer charged with protecting one of them. Tom Hardy plays that fixer, Harry Da Souza, alongside Pierce Brosnan and Helen Mirren as the Harrigan patriarch and matriarch.
It premiered on March 30, 2025. Guy Ritchie directed the first two episodes. Critics offered mixed reviews, with some praising Hardy and Ritchie and others finding it reliant on familiar crime drama tropes.
‘Killing Eve’

Phoebe Waller-Bridge adapted the BBC America series from the Codename Villanelle novellas by Luke Jennings, and it ran from 2018 to 2022. It follows MI5 officer Eve Polastri as she tracks the assassin Villanelle while both women grow obsessed with each other.
‘Kill Jackie’ sees its heroine hunt down her would be killers one by one with style and wit. Slate found ‘Killing Eve’ funny and bright even though it never hides how bloodthirsty its assassin is.
‘Kleo’

The Netflix series premiered in August 2022 and a second season arrived in July 2024. Kleo Straub, played by Jella Haase, is a former Stasi assassin who sets out to learn who destroyed her life after the Berlin Wall falls.
Collider compared her revenge spree to that of The Bride in ‘Kill Bill’, while a public radio review likened the show to ‘Killing Eve’. The series mixes action and thriller with a healthy dose of comedy.
‘Hanna’

The Prime Video drama is based on the 2011 film of the same name and was created and written by David Farr. It follows a girl raised in seclusion in a Polish forest whose father trains her to fight the CIA operatives hunting them.
Mireille Enos plays Marissa Wiegler, who shifts from foe to ally, and the show was renewed for a third and final season. It is both a high concept thriller and a coming of age drama.
‘The Assassin’

Created by Harry and Jack Williams, the Prime Video thriller stars Keeley Hawes as retired assassin Julie. She flees a Greek island with her estranged son Edward, played by Freddie Highmore, when her dangerous past catches up with her.
All six episodes arrived on July 25, 2025, and a second season was reported to be in development that November. One preview compared its irreverent treatment of the hitman trade to ‘Grosse Pointe Blank’.
‘Sweetpea’

The British revenge thriller runs six episodes and follows Rhiannon Lewis, a quiet wallflower played by Ella Purnell who develops a vengeful taste for murder. It is based on a novel by C.J. Skuse.
Rhiannon works as a receptionist at a local newspaper, so the show offers a more personal take on revenge than a story about professional hitmen. One review praised its balance between dark comedy and brutal violence.
‘Nikita’

The CW series aired from September 2010 to December 2013 and follows Nikita, played by Maggie Q, who escaped a secret government organization called Division and returns after three years in hiding to bring it down. Division murdered her civilian fiancé, and she wants vengeance.
The series ran for four seasons and 74 episodes. With Jackie Price now picking off The Seven Demons one by one, which of these rogue assassins would you want to see cross paths with her in a future season?
