Adam Sandler and his old friends are almost ready for another summer of chaos. Netflix officially confirmed ‘Grown Ups 3’ during its Upfront presentation in May 2026, bringing the beloved comedy franchise back 13 years after the last installment.

Things have moved quickly since then. Netflix kicked off production in New Jersey on August 6, sharing a cast photo featuring Sandler, Kevin James, Chris Rock, David Spade and Rob Schneider.

Now fans finally have an idea of when they’ll see the finished film. Appearing on ‘The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon’ on October 5, Rock revealed that ‘Grown Ups 3’ will probably arrive on Netflix next summer, pointing to a summer 2027 release.

When Fallon asked whether production had wrapped, Rock said the cast was finishing up shooting and that the movie would likely be out next summer. He added that everyone was having a great time making it. Rock also had some fun with the conversation. He joked that he is extra focused on filming ‘Grown Ups 3’ because Martin Scorsese isn’t calling him at this point in his career.

Netflix still hasn’t announced an official release date, and its Tudum coverage says one hasn’t been revealed. Even so, Rock’s comments line up with earlier expectations that the film would debut in summer 2027. The threequel reunites nearly the entire original crew. Sandler, James, Rock, Spade and Schneider all return, with Schneider coming back after sitting out ‘Grown Ups 2’.

Maya Rudolph, Maria Bello and Salma Hayek Pinault also reprise their roles as the leads’ partners. The cast includes Jake Goldberg, Alexys Nycole Sanchez, Sadie Sandler, Sunny Sandler and Nadji Jeter, among others.

The franchise is adding some new faces, too. Julie Bowen, Deon Cole and Bailee Madison join the series, alongside Jackie Sandler and Shaquille O’Neal. The franchise has always revolved around childhood friends who reunite as adults over a summer vacation. This time, Netflix’s logline teases that with their kids all grown up, the gang is finally free to go on the ultimate adventure.

Sandler and Tim Herlihy co-wrote the script. Kyle Newacheck directs, having previously worked with Sandler on ‘Murder Mystery’ and ‘Happy Gilmore 2’. That last collaboration was a massive hit. ‘Happy Gilmore 2’ set a Nielsen record with 2.89 billion minutes viewed in its first week, making it one of the biggest streaming titles of last year.

‘Grown Ups 3’ is being made specifically for Netflix, making it the first film in the series to skip theaters. That fits naturally with Sandler’s long relationship with the streamer. He first signed a deal with Netflix in 2014 to make 4 movies, and that partnership was renewed in 2017.

Over the years, it has produced more than 10 films and other projects. Critics have never been especially kind to the ‘Grown Ups’ movies. Still, the franchise has remained a crowd favorite, and the excitement around this reunion shows that audiences are eager for more.

Behind-the-scenes moments, including Sandler and Hayek riding out a rainstorm in neon ponchos, have kept fans entertained during filming. With production nearly wrapped, the countdown to summer 2027 has officially begun.

Are you excited to see ‘Grown Ups 3’ on Netflix next summer?
