‘The Dog Stars’ Star Margaret Qualley’s Dreamy Woodland Shot From Her Pop Magazine Cover Story Has Fans Swooning
Margaret Qualley has built a career that moves easily between film sets and fashion shoots. The actress trained as a ballerina before turning to acting, and she made her runway debut at 16, walking for Alberta Ferretti at New York Fashion Week.
That fashion background has paid off. She is a longtime Chanel ambassador and has appeared on covers like Vanity Fair’s March 2026 issue, shot by Daniel Jackson, so a new Qualley editorial tends to get noticed.
This week, another image from one of her most talked-about shoots began circulating online. JumpTrailers shared a sunlit outdoor portrait on October 7, and it comes from Qualley’s cover story for POP Magazine’s Autumn/Winter 2026 edition.
The photo shows Qualley in a grassy clearing surrounded by tall green trees. She wears a turquoise scarf-style top, a long pendant necklace, and a stack of beaded bracelets, with her long hair falling down her back.
Her eyes are lowered, and her hands are clasped in front of her, which gives the shot a quiet, unposed feel. The natural light and soft colors make it feel more like a candid snapshot than a polished studio editorial.

The image appeared as part of a carousel shared on Instagram, giving fans a closer look at the shoot beyond the covers. Qualley fronts Issue 55 of POP, the magazine’s Autumn/Winter 2026 edition. The shoot was photographed by Talia Ryder and styled by Taylor McNeill.
The pairing has a personal link, since Qualley and Ryder appeared together in 2025’s ‘Lace Manhattan: Oddwadd’. That familiarity may help explain why the images feel so relaxed. Qualley appears on 3 different covers of the issue, which runs more than 700 pages. Other covers feature Grace and Natasha Poly, and several Qualley editions have already sold out with collectors.
The outdoor theme runs through the whole cover story. On one cover, Qualley sits outside holding a small grey dog while wearing pieces from Chanel’s Fall/Winter 2026 collection. She layered the shimmering runway look over her own bright red hoodie, with her dark hair draped over one shoulder beneath the hood.
Mixing high fashion with everyday streetwear became one of the shoot’s signature touches. The approach makes sense for Qualley, whose personal style has often mixed glamour with a more laid-back, lived-in feel.

Qualley first broke through on HBO’s ‘The Leftovers’ before roles in ‘The Nice Guys’, ‘Death Note’ and ‘Once Upon a Time in Hollywood’. Her performance as Ann Reinking in ‘Fosse/Verdon’ earned her a Primetime Emmy nomination.
She went on to lead Netflix’s ‘Maid’ and has become a regular in daring, director-driven projects. Her recent credits include ‘Poor Things’, ‘Kinds of Kindness’, ‘Drive-Away Dolls’, ‘The Substance’, ‘Honey Don’t!’ and ‘Blue Moon’.
She has also branched out behind the camera, co-directing a music video with Sabrina Carpenter earlier this year. Upcoming projects including ‘How to Make a Killing’ and ‘The Dog Stars’ continue to keep her in the headlines.
Many cover stories rely on studio lighting and heavy styling. Qualley’s POP shoot goes the other way, with dappled sunlight, open fields, and personal pieces mixed in with designer looks.
As more images from the issue spread, fans are getting a fuller picture of the shoot’s earthy mood. The woodland portrait may be one of its quietest frames, but it is clearly resonating with fans.
