WoW Forever Legacy System Guide: All 65 Challenges, Perks and Rewards
TL;DR
- The Legacy System is an account-wide progression that unlocks on your first Legacy Point, usually at level 25, and opens from the shield icon or the Y key.
- Twenty-seven of the 65 points come from leveling all nine classes and another 18 from six crafting professions, so 36 of them sit behind characters you haven’t made yet.
- The 21 perks are conveniences rather than combat power, and the handful that brush against combat are switched off in dungeons, raids and battlegrounds.
WoW Forever’s Legacy System encourages players to level multiple characters with different classes and professions, so you can experience the journey in new ways. There are 65 Legacy Points to earn in total, and your Battle.net account keeps all of them. However, each character can only spend 16 points. A single character can earn up to 29 points on its own, while the final mount requires 55 points.
How does the WoW Forever Legacy System work?
As you earn your first Legacy Point, you will unlock the Legacy System. For most players, this happens when they reach level 25. You can also unlock it by reaching 150 in a non-gathering primary profession or by exploring the entire world map. Once unlocked, you can open Legacy from the shield icon on the menu bar or by pressing Y.
Moreover, Legacy Points are shared across your Battle.net account, so every non-Hardcore character can access the full pool. However, each character spends its points separately. Your Warrior and Mage use the same pool of points, but each can spend them on different trees and build them in completely different ways.
There are three Legacy trees: Professions, Adventure, and Resourcefulness.
At launch, each character can use up to 16 Legacy Points. Blizzard added this limit so new players do not fall too far behind players who have been playing longer. It also means you can make full use of the system with one character instead of needing several alts.
All 65 WoW Forever Legacy Challenges
WoW Forever has 65 Legacy Challenges to complete, covering areas such as leveling, professions, quests, dungeons, and exploration. Some challenges are easy to finish naturally as you play, while others require more time and planning. Here’s the complete list of all 65 WoW Forever Legacy Challenges and how to complete each one.
| Category | Points | How to Complete |
| Classes | 27 | Reach levels 25, 45 and 60 with each of the nine classes |
| TradeSkills | 18 | Reach 150, 225 and 300 skill in each non-gathering primary profession |
| Players vs. Players | 12 | Ranks 3, 7, 10, 13 and 14 for 5, Exalted with each Battleground reputation for 4, and Field of Honor weeks 4, 7 and 10 for 3 |
| Dungeons | 3 | Kill the final boss in every dungeon across the 15–25, 26–45 and 46–60 brackets |
| Raids | 3 | Onyxia, all 13 Hyjal Summit bosses, all 8 Barrow Deeps bosses |
| Adventure | 2 | Explore the entire world map on one character, and finish the Lord Valthalak questline |
Although Classes and TradeSkills offer the most points, that doesn’t mean they’re the easiest ways to earn them.
The Classes section requires all nine classes to reach level 60. Since each character can only be one class, you can earn just 3 of the 27 points with a single character. Perhaps Tradeskills looks easier at first, with 18 points available, but you can only have two primary professions. That means you can earn a maximum of 6 points on one character. In total, 36 points require you to create and level other characters.
PvP adds another 12 points, but it is one of the hardest grinds on the list. Reaching Rank 14 was a huge grind in vanilla WoW, and most players never reached it.
That leaves Dungeons, Raids, and Adventure. You can earn up to eight points from these areas on a single character. If you prefer playing solo, these are the main areas to focus on.

WoW Forever Legacy Rewards and the Spectral Bear Mount
WoW Forever Legacy Rewards give you extra bonuses as you progress through the game. You can earn Legacy Points to unlock useful perks, cosmetic items, and other rewards.
| Points Earned | Reward |
| 15 | Replica Ironforge Air Rifle |
| 25 | Spectral Bear Cub |
| 40 | Spectral Bear Tabard |
| 55 | Reins of the Spectral Bear |
Should You Chase the WoW Forever Legacy System?
For the perks, yes. You can reach the 16-point cap without much trouble. The rewards are a different story. They are mainly worth chasing if you already planned to level several alts, since two of the four rewards require classes you may not have played yet.
If you want the bear, make sure you know what you’re getting into. You’ll need to level nine characters to 60, max six crafting professions at 300, and get bags and riding skills for every character. None of this is especially difficult, but it takes a lot of time. There is also no Token in Forever to make things easier.
So, if you’d rather spend those evenings actually playing the game instead of slowly gathering everything you need, you may want to think twice before chasing the full reward. Or, you can just buy WoW Forever Gold from other players who have already put in the time to grind.
FAQs
Q: Do you need alts to finish the Legacy System?
A: For the perks, no. Each character can only spend 16 points and a single character can earn up to 29, so one character fills its trees without help.
Q: How do you get the Spectral Bear mount in WoW Forever?
A: Reins of the Spectral Bear unlocks at 55 Legacy Points earned, at the end of the reward track.
Q: Can you respec Legacy Points?
A: Probably, at your class trainer for a fee.
Q: Is the Legacy System pay-to-win?
A: No, and the structure is what stops it. You earn points by playing rather than buying them, the perks are conveniences instead of combat power, and the ones that brush against combat are switched off in dungeons, raids and battlegrounds.
Q: Does Hardcore share Legacy progress?
A: It shares in one direction only. Challenges you complete in Hardcore count across every other ruleset, but progress made outside Hardcore doesn’t flow back into it.
