There is a reason Emmy Rossum keeps popping up on social feeds lately, and every new photo of the actress lands at a moment when her career is firing on all cylinders. Her Hulu crime thriller ‘Furious’ premiered on July 27 and quickly became one of the summer’s surprise streaming hits, with Rossum starring and serving as an executive producer.

Created by Elizabeth Meriwether and loosely inspired by the 1987 film ‘Black Widow’, the series casts Rossum as FBI agent Alice Black, who hunts a calculating serial killer named Catherine Grace, played by Lola Petticrew.

The show was renewed for a second season in August, and critics have been equally kind, with Rotten Tomatoes’ consensus singling out Rossum’s blazing lead performance. That momentum has made her a constant presence online, and the latest images only add to it.

In the snaps, Rossum poses in a fitted, dark off-the-shoulder gown at the foot of a sweeping white staircase, her signature curls swept up with a few loose tendrils framing her face. One frame captures her looking straight into the lens, while the other shows her glancing down in a softer, more candid pose.

The pared-back styling fits a pattern fashion watchers have long noticed. W Magazine has described Rossum’s red carpet style as typically understated and quietly confident rather than flashy, a reputation these new shots reinforce.

The photos follow a busy run of public appearances. Earlier this month, Cinethology shared another pair of images showing her in a textured black top with voluminous curls, a look that echoed the all-black ensemble she wore on October 2 to Edward Enninful’s Paris Fashion Week party.

She also sat front row at the Hermès Spring 2027 show in Paris, where Tom and Lorenzo singled out her curls as one of the best hairstyles in entertainment right now. Before that, she attended the 78th Primetime Emmy Awards on September 14.

Her ‘Furious’ premiere look set the tone for this era. At the Metrograph in New York, she wore a crystal-covered design from Monse’s resort 2027 collection, styled by Delphine Danhier, and later called it the dress of her dreams on Instagram.

The glamour comes with serious recognition attached. Rossum will be honored with the Newport Beach Film Festival’s outstanding performance in television award for her work in ‘Furious’, with the celebration set for October 18 at Fashion Island.

Festival co-founder and CEO Gregg Schwenk praised her in a statement, pointing to a career spanning opera, screen work, and directing that he said is defined by range and fearlessness. Some critics even consider the ‘Furious’ role her greatest turn yet.

Hulu is clearly backing her for the season ahead, too. She will be submitted in the lead actress category for the Golden Globes and Critics’ Choice Awards, while Petticrew will compete in supporting alongside Quincy Tyler Bernstine.

For many viewers, Rossum is still best known for her 9 seasons on ‘Shameless’, and that legacy remains part of her story. In August, she reunited with William H. Macy for a “Still Shameless” panel at the TV Academy’s Televerse Festival in Los Angeles.

Now 40, she has also taken on roles in Apple TV+’s ‘The Crowded Room’ before leading ‘Furious’. Between a hit series, a fresh award and a steady stream of polished photos, Rossum is clearly enjoying one of the most visible stretches of her career.

Do you think Emmy Rossum will earn a Golden Globe nomination for her performance in Furious?
