‘Avengers: Doomsday’ Marvel Snap Cards Hint at the Film’s Most Surprising Team-Ups
With the Avengers, Fantastic Four, X-Men, and more sharing the screen, the ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ team-ups have been one of the biggest talking points ahead of Marvel’s next crossover. Heroes from 3 distinct universes are set to collide as they face Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom.
The trailers have already teased some unexpected pairings. The CinemaCon footage showed Shang-Chi trading blows with Gambit, while the fourth teaser revealed the Thing meeting Shuri and M’Baku in a desert setting.
Now, a new set of ‘Marvel Snap‘ card listings, spotted via snapcomplete.com, may have revealed several of the film’s key team-ups. The duos include Sue Storm and Namor, M’Baku and the Thing, Gambit and Shang-Chi, Reed Richards and Beast, and Sam Wilson and Nightcrawler.
The cards line up neatly with the game’s upcoming tie-in season. Titled ‘Doomsday: Unleashed’, it runs from December 1 to January 4, with Doctor Doom as the Season Pass card and Gambit and Shang-Chi as the Super Premium card.

The roster behind these cards is stacked. Vanessa Kirby plays Sue Storm, Tenoch Huerta Mejía plays Namor, Winston Duke plays M’Baku, Ebon Moss-Bachrach plays the Thing, Channing Tatum plays Gambit, and Simu Liu plays Shang-Chi.
The pairing most likely to spark conversation is Sue and Namor. In the comics, Namor’s infatuation with Sue dates back to 1962, creating one of the most famous love triangles involving Reed Richards.

Huerta has already hinted at the dynamic. At San Diego Comic-Con, he suggested Sue drives much of the action when it comes to Namor and his world, and on another occasion he jokingly dodged the question by saying he really likes Pedro Pascal.
Rumors have only added fuel to the fire. One scooper claimed Namor and Sue share many scenes in the desert seen in the fourth teaser, though Marvel hasn’t confirmed any plot details.
Some of these duos may begin as rivals. The trailer teased several fights between characters, including Shang-Chi versus Gambit and Sue Storm versus Namor, with multiversal confusion apparently pitting heroes against each other before Doom emerges as the true threat.

Gambit and Shang-Chi’s showdown at the X-Mansion became a fan favorite after CinemaCon. CBR has noted that their similar fighting styles and charm could make them a perfect pairing once they’re on the same side.
The Thing’s meeting with Shuri and M’Baku also carries comic book weight. MovieWeb pointed out that it calls back to the fact that Black Panther first debuted in the pages of ‘Fantastic Four’.
The cards also reveal some fresh cross-team combinations. Reed Richards joining forces with Beast pairs 2 of Marvel’s brilliant minds, while Sam Wilson teaming with Nightcrawler suggests the new Captain America’s squad won’t be limited to familiar faces.

Kelsey Grammer returns as Beast and Alan Cumming as Nightcrawler, both reprising roles from Fox’s ‘X-Men’ films. Anthony Mackie leads as Sam Wilson, with Pedro Pascal as Reed. With more than 20 characters, screen time will be tight. Huerta has acknowledged that everyone’s role is more condensed, though Namor is very much part of the story.
These card pairings offer a glimpse at how the Russo brothers might be dividing the sprawling cast. Fans will find out how these alliances form when ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ arrives in theaters on December 18, 2026.
