Marvel Brings the ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ Universe to France, Complete With Doom’s Throne and the Avengers in Ruins
Marvel’s global marketing campaign for ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ has been impossible to miss. In recent weeks, the studio has staged elaborate countdown booths across China, including a sculpted wave installation that had fans speculating about Talokan, and filmed a striking Doctor Doom promo at Málaga’s centuries-old Alcazaba fortress in southern Spain. Earlier this year, it also took over Shanghai’s BilibiliWorld event with recreated sets that included Doom’s throne.
Europe has become an increasingly important stop on that tour. In Spain, more than 3,000 fans packed a Disney presentation at San Diego Comic-Con Málaga on October 3, where ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ was the headline attraction, and Spanish audiences will even get to see the film a day early on December 17.
Now, France is getting its own taste of the multiverse. Fans have shared a first look at the ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ universe experience in France, featuring 2 dramatic sets built beneath a sweeping glass dome. The photos quickly circulated online, giving fans a closer look at how Marvel is bringing the film’s world to life ahead of release.
The Avengers set is easily the more dramatic of the pair. Crumbling stone blocks are lit with glowing green cracks, with Captain America’s shield propped among the rubble, a hammer resting on the debris, and a carved Avengers logo on the wall. The battle-scarred scene suggests a team that has already taken a heavy hit.

Right next to the ruins sits something far more ominous. A tall throne rests on a raised platform in front of dark green panels, beneath an ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ sign, with a geometric mosaic spread across the floor in front of it. The contrast between the shattered Avengers set and Doom’s imposing seat feels like a clear statement about who’s in control.
Details about the experience are still limited. However, the Atlantis shopping center in Saint-Herblain is hosting an ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ event from October 21 to October 31 in collaboration with Marvel France, promising an immersive experience across several spaces and activities inspired by the Avengers, timed to the school holidays.

French audiences won’t have to wait as long as American moviegoers either. Cinema listings put the film’s release in France on December 16, 2 days ahead of its December 18 debut in the US. Pathé lists the film with a runtime of 2 hours and 45 minutes.
Premium formats are also getting special attention. Dolby Cinema screenings in France will include several minutes of exclusive content, while Paris’ iconic Le Grand Rex will begin showing the film at 12:01 a.m. on December 16, with that first screening already sold out.
There’s also been a notable change for French fans of the character. The villain has traditionally been known as Fatalis in French comics, but the official French trailer for ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ keeps the name Doom, with the characters referring to him as Victor and Doom throughout.
That decision fits neatly with the film’s branding. Since the title itself wasn’t translated in France, keeping Doom’s name avoids confusion and keeps the campaign consistent across markets.

Directed by Joe and Anthony Russo, ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ brings together heroes from 3 universes, including the Avengers, the X-Men and the Fantastic Four, against Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom. Marvel is hoping to recapture the box office magic of its earlier team-ups, which together earned more than $7.7 billion.
With installations popping up from China to Spain and now France, the studio is clearly treating this crossover as a truly global event. And with less than 2 months to go, more surprises are likely on the way.
