Meet the Cast of ‘The Gift of Deceit’ on Netflix (With Photos)
‘The Gift of Deceit’ arrives on Netflix on October 28 as a 10 episode series set in Rio de Janeiro. The Brazilian drama carries the original title ‘Dom de Iludir’ and was imagined by Diane Maia and Mirna Nogueira. At its center is an art collector from the carioca elite who searches desperately for a cure to her daughter’s unexplained illness.
The ‘The Gift of Deceit’ cast is built around three lead actresses and a long supporting ensemble. Netflix describes the story as one where nothing is exactly what it seems, with a scam exposing secrets that tie two families together. Marieta Severo
Marieta Severo plays art collector Lúcia Rossetti, who shares a complicated and turbulent relationship with her daughter. The role marks her first series for Netflix.
Severo was born in Rio de Janeiro in 1946 and made her television debut in 1966 in the telenovela ‘O Sheik de Agadir’. She works under director Mauro Mendonça Filho, a prominent name in Brazilian television drama. He is also known for ‘Verdades Secretas’.
Alice Wegmann
Alice Wegmann plays Maíra Rossetti, the daughter whose unknown illness drives the plot. Her strained bond with Lúcia is one of the series’ central relationships.
Wegmann was born in Rio de Janeiro in 1995 and began her television career on the 18th season of ‘Malhação’.
Nanda Costa
Nanda Costa plays Irina, whose path crossing with the Rossettis tightens the web of intrigue and tension. In the trailer description, Lúcia turns to a spiritual therapist in search of a cure but ends up the victim of a scam.
Costa was born in Paraty in 1986. She has won best actress awards for her film work in ‘Sonhos Roubados’, including from the Festival do Rio and the Paris Brazilian film festival.
José de Abreu
José de Abreu plays Bóris Petrov, as shown in a first look photo released by Netflix. He is the first name listed among the supporting players in the announcement.
Luciana Paes
Luciana Paes plays Bárbara Petrov, and she appears alongside de Abreu and Costa in the same official still. Netflix’s own marketing places her among the headline supporting names.
Laila Garin
Laila Garin plays Sandra in the series, pictured next to Hamilton Dias in a Netflix photo. Like Paes and de Abreu, she is one of the names Netflix highlights beyond the three leads.
Hamilton Dias
Hamilton Dias plays Jorge, who appears in the same image as Garin. He is part of a large ensemble that Netflix says surrounds the three lead actresses.
Rui Ricardo Diaz
Rui Ricardo Diaz plays Nilo, and he is seen standing with de Abreu, Costa and Paes in an official photo. The series is produced by Conspiração, the company behind the Oscar winning ‘Ainda Estou Aqui’, and filming began in November 2025.
The remaining cast includes Felipe Camargo, Heloisa Jorge, Allan Souza Lima, Jonas Bloch, Giovanna de Jesus, José Mata, Thiago Justino, Laura Vick, Yanna Lavigne and Rosanna Viegas. Liniker also re-recorded the Caetano Veloso song that gives the series its name for the teaser.
