‘Nobody Wants This’ Creator Erin Foster Says Joanne and Noah’s Story Isn’t Over Yet
Netflix’s ‘Nobody Wants This’ has become one of the streamer’s most beloved romantic comedies. Starring Kristen Bell as podcaster Joanne and Adam Brody as Rabbi Noah, the series has charmed audiences with its sharp humor and heartfelt look at an unlikely relationship, supported by Justine Lupe and Timothy Simons.
The show’s third season premiered on October 22 and delivered a string of milestones. Over 10 episodes, Joanne and Noah moved in together, got engaged, and ultimately tied the knot in a surprise beach ceremony in Malibu, right after Joanne completed her conversion to Judaism.
That wedding gave fans a satisfying conclusion, leaving some wondering whether the series had reached its natural end. Netflix has not yet renewed the show for a fourth season.
Now creator Erin Foster has shared her thoughts on the show’s future. Speaking with Parade, Foster said she believes there is still more story to tell for Joanne and Noah, even after their wedding.
“There’s those next steps as people who are not in their 20s, getting married and you’re starting off already kind of behind everyone else,” Foster told Parade. “So, yeah, I do think that there’s more story to tell.” Foster’s perspective is deeply personal. The series is based on her relationship with her husband, Simon Tikhman, and she has shared that she was 37 when she got married.

That experience made the couple’s intimate wedding feel especially genuine to her. Many details of Joanne and Noah’s romance, including their elaborate proposal in Napa, have echoed Foster’s own love story.
Foster also explained the writers’ approach to the show’s structure. She said the team treats each season’s ending as something that could work as either a season finale or a series finale.

According to Foster, any of the 3 seasons could stand on its own as a complete rom-com while still leaving room for more. She added that she isn’t assuming another season is guaranteed, but would rather leave audiences wanting more than less.
If the show returns, there’s plenty of drama waiting to unfold. Joanne and Noah’s families still don’t know about their spontaneous wedding, and Foster predicted that Noah’s mother, Bina, would not take the news well after working so hard to plan the couple’s official ceremony.
Co-showrunner Jenni Konner has also hinted that while the couple is married in their own way, they haven’t yet dealt with the family expectations surrounding a traditional wedding. Joanne has also mentioned children a few times, opening the door to future storylines.

Meanwhile, the complicated situation involving Morgan, Sasha and Esther remains unresolved. That storyline has yet to reach a definitive conclusion, giving the writers another thread to continue.
Fans have reason to be hopeful. When season 2 premiered on October 23, 2025, Netflix renewed the series for a third season less than 2 weeks later, on November 4. For now, there’s no official word on a fourth season or a potential release window.
All 3 seasons of ‘Nobody Wants This’ are currently streaming on Netflix. With Foster clearly invested in continuing the story, fans will be watching closely for any renewal news in the weeks ahead.
