Scarlet Witch Return Theories Heat Up After Elizabeth Olsen’s Stunt Double Shares ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ Witches Poster

Few MCU mysteries have fans as hooked as the identity of Doctor Doom’s Latverian Witches. Ever since the hooded, masked figures first appeared next to Robert Downey Jr.’s villain, theories about who is under those masks have taken over Marvel fan spaces, and one name keeps coming up: Wanda Maximoff.

That speculation has only grown as ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ approaches its December 18 release. Marvel recently released a set of premium format posters for the film, and only one of them, the ScreenX version, shows Doom surrounded by his mysterious witches.

Now a familiar name from Scarlet Witch’s history has shared that poster. Jennifer White, who has worked as Elizabeth Olsen’s movement coach and stunt double for the role, reposted the new ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ artwork featuring the Latverian Witches to her Instagram Story.

The image shows Doom in his green hood and metal mask, standing with hooded figures in purple, green, and orange around him. The poster credits the Russo brothers and AGBO, and it carries the film’s logo along with its release date.

Marvel Updates shared a screenshot of White’s story on X, setting it next to an image of Olsen as Wanda in her crown, and the post spread within hours. For fans hoping for a Scarlet Witch comeback, the timing felt hard to ignore.

This isn’t the first time White has stirred up Wanda rumors. She previously posted a cryptic Instagram Story about her time working with Marvel Studios, which led to speculation that Wanda could appear in ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ or ‘Avengers: Secret Wars’.

At the time, The Direct noted that the post could easily have been a simple throwback. The same caution applies here, since stunt performers often share promotional material from projects they’ve been connected to, and a repost isn’t confirmation of anything.

Marvel has kept the witches’ identities under wraps. They were first shown as masked, magic-wielding figures in international artwork displayed around San Diego Comic-Con Málaga, with Doom seated on his throne as 3 witches stand nearby.

Reports suggest the film will introduce more than 3 of them. Along with the Scarlet Witch, fans have suggested candidates such as Charlize Theron’s Clea and Sophia Di Martino’s Sylvie, while an unconfirmed leak claims one witch is a shapeshifter disguised as Hayley Atwell’s Peggy Carter to deceive Chris Evans’ Steve Rogers.

Olsen wasn’t named in the official ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ cast announcement in March 2025. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter around that time, she said she didn’t expect to return as Wanda anytime soon.

Wanda was last seen at the end of ‘Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness’, where she sacrificed herself. Since then, director Joe Russo has given only a vague answer when asked about Olsen, and Kevin Feige has teased that almost anything is possible in the multiverse.

That uncertainty is what keeps the theory alive. Unconfirmed reports that some cast and crew have filmed extra scenes have only added to the guessing. With the final trailer expected in mid-November, Marvel may reveal more about Doom’s inner circle before release. Until then, every repost, poster, and set photo is likely to be studied closely by fans looking for clues.

Whether White’s Instagram Story is a real hint or just a show of support for a former project, it has given the Scarlet Witch debate a new boost. The full answer may not come until audiences see the film in theaters.

Do you think Elizabeth Olsen’s Scarlet Witch is one of Doctor Doom’s Latverian Witches in Avengers: Doomsday?
