Black Widow Leaps Across Seoul’s Skyline in Marvel’s ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ Drone Show
Seoul turned its night sky into a Marvel showcase this Halloween. The city’s “Marvel Special” drone show lit up the Han River over Ttukseom Hangang Park, closing out its year of drone performances with a tribute to the heroes and villains of the Marvel Cinematic Universe ahead of ‘Avengers: Doomsday’.
The event was staged by Seoul’s city government with The Walt Disney Company Korea. It used a record 2,000 drones, ran for 15 minutes from 8:30 p.m., and was free to watch, with formations timed to music.
Many fans expected the big names, but one appearance caught people by surprise. A clip shared by Cosmic Marvel on X shows Black Widow flying across the sky in a dynamic mid-leap pose, formed entirely from drones.
The figure is drawn in red and purple-blue lights, with her head and flowing hair glowing bright red above the illuminated Seoul skyline. One arm stretches forward as her legs extend behind her, capturing the agile fighting style the character is known for.
Comic Basics described her appearance as a surprise cameo. The outlet didn’t specify whether the formation represented Natasha Romanoff or another version of the character.

Black Widow holds a special place in the Avengers story. Natasha sacrificed herself in ‘Avengers: Endgame’, making any tribute to the character an emotional moment for longtime fans.
Comic Basics noted that there’s no official word on whether Black Widow will appear in ‘Avengers: Doomsday’, and called the drone formation more of a nostalgic nod than a hint about the plot. Florence Pugh’s Yelena Belova, who has carried the Black Widow legacy forward, is part of the film’s confirmed cast.

Black Widow was just one part of a packed lineup. The show moved from a giant Thanos holding the Infinity Gauntlet to Iron Man, with Robert Downey Jr.’s face shaped in lights, before transforming into Doctor Doom.
That sequence connected Downey’s original role as Tony Stark with his new turn as the villain of ‘Avengers: Doomsday’. Another widely shared transition showed Thor changing into Steve Rogers wielding Mjölnir.

Vision and the Scarlet Witch also made appearances, according to Comic Basics. Korean reports ahead of the event had also named Doctor Strange among the characters. Seoul’s drone shows have become a major attraction. The first 5 shows of the season drew 125,358 visitors, and earlier events this year included a 2,000-drone ‘Star Wars’ show in May.
Halloween night offered even more for fans. Before the show, visitors could enjoy a photo zone themed around Doom’s throne and stained-glass imagery, a costume parade, and event booths, while a Marvel Run took place in Inje County the same day.
