Matt Reeves’ ‘The Batman: Part II’ has had a long and complicated road to the big screen. Originally slated for 2025, the sequel was pushed back after the 2023 strikes, then delayed again as the script went through rewrites before Reeves felt ready to start shooting.

The film finally began principal photography in June, mainly at Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden in Hertfordshire, England. More recently, Reeves stepped away from physical production to deal with a family matter, and Steven Soderbergh joined to direct the remaining weeks of filming.

Now another setback has been reported. According to The Sun, filming on ‘The Batman: Part II’ was halted in October after a cast member was run over by the Batmobile during an action scene.

An anonymous source told the outlet that the stunt went wrong and that a cast member ended up hurt. Filming was reportedly stopped immediately after the accident. The person was taken to the hospital for treatment and is now recovering at home. Reports describe the injury as not serious, and production has since resumed.

The cast member hasn’t been publicly named. ComicBook.com reported that when The Sun contacted the actor it believed was involved, they didn’t deny the incident. Neither Warner Bros. nor the film’s producers have commented publicly. The report relies on an anonymous source, so details about the accident remain limited.

ComicBookMovie noted that previously shared set footage showed Batman fighting GCPD officers while driving the Batmobile. The outlet speculated that an actor may have been caught up in a similar sequence, though that hasn’t been confirmed.

The incident adds to an already eventful production. Soderbergh is now overseeing roughly the final third of principal photography, and he has pledged to follow Reeves’ plans rather than impose his own vision. Reeves remains involved and is expected to return for post-production. Robert Pattinson has expressed support for Soderbergh’s involvement and said filming is almost done.

Pattinson returns as Bruce Wayne alongside Jeffrey Wright as Jim Gordon, Andy Serkis as Alfred and Colin Farrell as the Penguin. The sequel also adds several new faces, including Scarlett Johansson, Sebastian Stan, Charles Dance and Brian Tyree Henry.

Jayme Lawson returns as Mayor Bella Reál, while Sebastian Koch and Gil Perez-Abraham round out the cast. Marvel… rather, Warner Bros. hasn’t confirmed most of the new cast members’ roles, though leaked props from Heidi Klum’s Halloween makeup team recently sparked theories about Two-Face, Victor Zsasz and the Court of Owls.

Despite the setbacks, the production appears to be moving forward. ‘The Batman: Part II’ is currently scheduled to open in theaters and IMAX on February 18, 2028. For now, the most important news is that the injured cast member is reportedly recovering at home. Fans will be hoping the rest of the shoot goes smoothly as the long-awaited sequel nears the end of filming.
