Marvel’s ‘VisionQuest’ is heading toward its finale with plenty of momentum. The 8-episode Disney+ series, created by showrunner Terry Matalas, stars Paul Bettany as Vision and brings back James Spader as Ultron.

The show has also earned strong reviews. It holds an 85% Tomatometer score on Rotten Tomatoes, and its 7th episode, “Immolation,” recently became its highest-rated installment on IMDb with an 8.8.

Behind the scenes, the studio appears happy with the results. According to TheWrap, ‘VisionQuest’ is seen as a success at Marvel Studios. The outlet reports that there is now talk of how some of the show’s characters could continue in the MCU. No specific plans have been shared, but the discussions suggest Vision’s story and his supporting cast could keep going after the season ends.

TheWrap also noted that the series has helped Marvel win back goodwill after a run of disappointing reviews. Critics have praised it alongside ‘Agatha All Along’ and ‘Wonder Man’.

The finale on November 10 closes a 5-year chapter for Marvel’s TV division. ‘VisionQuest’ completes a trilogy that began with ‘WandaVision’ in 2021 and continued with ‘Agatha All Along’.

MCU influencer Jess Parker told TheWrap that this continuity helped fans connect more deeply with the characters. Jon Giegengack of Hub Entertainment Research also pointed to the weekly release schedule as a way to give audiences more time to discuss each episode.

Reviews have frequently highlighted Bettany and Spader. Critics called Bettany electric and pointed to Spader as one of the show’s secret weapons. Others singled out the dynamic between the 2 actors as the highlight of the series. Nerdist called the show a roaring success, while ComicBookMovie.com described it as a near-flawless MCU series.

Not every critic was won over. Some felt the second half was weaker than the first, and Variety’s review argued the series doesn’t leave a lasting mark. If Marvel wants to carry characters forward, it has plenty of options. Alongside Bettany and Spader, the series features T’Nia Miller as Jocasta, Todd Stashwick as Paladin, and Ruaridh Mollica as Tommy Maximoff.

The show also includes AI characters such as Emily Hampshire’s E.D.I.T.H., Orla Brady’s F.R.I.D.A.Y. and James D’Arcy’s J.A.R.V.I.S. Any of them could fit into future MCU stories. The report arrives as Marvel Television prepares for a pause in its live-action output. After ‘VisionQuest’ and the final season of ‘Daredevil: Born Again’, no new live-action series are expected until after ‘Avengers: Secret Wars’.

The next show on the slate is ‘Zodiac’, a spy thriller planned for 2028. TheWrap’s analysis suggests the studio is focusing on dedicated showrunners, multi-season stories and more modest budgets, all areas where ‘VisionQuest’ appears to have delivered.

For now, fans are focused on the upcoming finale and how Vision’s journey will end. If the show sticks the landing, its characters could become an even bigger part of the MCU’s future. Marvel hasn’t officially announced any plans, but the reported enthusiasm inside the studio is a promising sign.
