Tom Holland’s latest outing as Peter Parker has been a box office juggernaut since day one. ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’, directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, premiered at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood on July 27 and opened in US theaters on July 31.

The film made history almost immediately. Deadline reported that it beat ‘Avengers: Endgame’ for the all-time opening record, and Variety reported that it crossed the $1 billion mark in just 6 days.

Now the web-slinger has claimed another major title from ‘Endgame’. As Global Box Office reported, ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ has officially passed ‘Avengers: Endgame’ to become the biggest Marvel film of all time outside China.

According to the account, the film has earned $2.288 billion excluding China. That edges out ‘Endgame’, which made $2.287 billion outside China, including its re-release. According to The Numbers, ‘Brand New Day’ has earned about $2.52 billion worldwide, including roughly $958.9 million domestically and about $1.56 billion internationally. China accounts for around $235 million of that total.

The film opened to $360.1 million domestically from 4,487 theaters over its first weekend. It held the No. 1 spot at the domestic box office for its first 6 weekends before gradually sliding down the chart.

Its international reach has been just as impressive. After China, the film’s biggest markets include the UK at about $134.1 million and Mexico at about $91.4 million, according to The Numbers.

In China, the film opened with about $68.1 million over its first 3 days and $121.3 million over 5 days, according to Artisan Gateway figures reported by The Express Tribune. Its $19 million IMAX haul there was described as the highest-grossing IMAX opening weekend ever for a ‘Spider-Man’ film in the country.

The sequel is now the highest-grossing ‘Spider-Man’ film and the biggest movie of 2026. It also ranks as the 4th highest-grossing film of all time worldwide. That success is especially notable given its reported $225 million production budget. According to The Numbers, its worldwide gross is more than 11 times what it cost to make. Holland returns as Peter Parker alongside Zendaya as MJ, Jacob Batalon as Ned Leeds, and Marisa Tomei as May Parker.

The film also brought in a mix of Marvel heroes and newcomers, including Jon Bernthal as the Punisher, Florence Pugh as Yelena Belova, and Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner. Sadie Sink plays Jean Grey, Tramell Tillman joins as Bill Metzger, and Michael Mando returns as Mac Gargan, also known as Scorpion. That ensemble helped turn the film into an event that drew audiences around the world.

The milestone arrives as Marvel prepares for its next big release, ‘Avengers: Doomsday’, on December 18. With ‘Brand New Day’ now ahead of ‘Endgame’ outside China, expectations for the studio’s upcoming team-up are only getting higher. For now, Spider-Man holds one of Marvel’s most impressive box office records, a fitting achievement for one of the studio’s most popular characters.

Do you think Avengers: Doomsday can surpass the box office success of Spider-Man: Brand New Day?
