Uma Thurman’s Charley Brown returned to the series on Friday with a proposition that proved too appealing for Dexter to refuse. The episode, titled “Fallen,” also confirms that Harrison is now part of the NYPD and working under his field trainer Fiona Mixon. It is a busy hour that pulls Dexter in several directions at once.

This ‘Dexter: Resurrection’ recap and ending explained walks through what Charley wants, how the episode closes, and what it means for the hunt ahead. The final minutes introduce a new predator inside a victim’s home and end with a body dropping onto a New York street. Those two beats shape everything that comes next.

Charley’s Offer to Dexter Comes With a Catch

Charley surprises Dexter and Harrison at a diner, saying she has unfinished business to discuss. Detective Wallace has fully cleared her after Leon Prater disappeared. She arrives with a clear purpose rather than a threat.

Charley says she feels guilty about the harm she caused under Prater’s tutelage and wants to make amends. She knows Dexter took Prater’s files, and that while he may have dealt with the Midnight Mangler and the Yonkers Slayer, the New York Ripper remains active. The Jaw Splitter and one other killer are also still at large.

She offers to act as a facilitator, supplying current names and private email addresses so Dexter can lure the killers out of hiding. Dexter tells her he works alone, and she asks him to think about it.

Dexter has good reason for caution, since he knows exactly what she is capable of. Even Harry suggests the arrangement is a good one and wonders whether being alone all the time has become part of the problem. That unusual nudge from his own conscience makes the offer harder to wave away.

How the Ending Explained Sets Up the Ray Ballard Hunt

Dexter agrees to the plan on one condition, which is that Charley brings the killers to him on his own turf. She says she will invite two of them to one of Prater’s gatherings, and Dexter will handle the rest. He also tells her she cannot avoid being in the middle of this if she wants to pay her penance.

Charley rents a large multi floored residence with a soundproof basement that can only be reached by elevator. It makes an ideal kill room, though the lack of a furnace means Dexter still needs a new boat to cruise New York Harbor. The practical details suggest he has already decided to say yes.

As she shows him around, Charley gives Dexter the background on Ray Ballard, one of the remaining targets. The episode then gives viewers a first look at Ballard, played by Gabriel Luna, as he lurks inside the home of his next victim. Dexter has not met him yet, but the audience now has.

The Five Borough Killer Raises the Stakes for the NYPD

The Five Borough Killer is played by Dan Stevens. He introduces himself through an anonymous phone call, claiming he will commit a murder at a baseball game. The vague warning gives officers very little to act on.

Rain disrupts one of the major games that evening, but he finds another opportunity and shoots a woman in a car park with a single quiet shot. Before the attack he tells her that nobody cares, and he records the whole thing on smart glasses.

The following day he sits in a park and sends the footage by AirDrop to a woman he has chosen at random. By the end of the episode he calls the Homicide department with a specific threat on Broadway, and a body drops from a rooftop onto a news stand. Dexter recognizes the work of the Five Borough Killer and promises to stop him before he kills again.

Meanwhile the older case continues to stall. Wallace remains determined to prove that Don Framt is the New York Ripper, but the NYPD still lacks the evidence for a conviction. Brian Cox plays the Ripper.

Harrison’s Graduation and Dexter’s Shifting Priorities

Dexter learns that Rapunzel, whose real name is Al Walker, has returned to killing, and he travels to Pennsylvania even though Harrison’s graduation is approaching. Harrison notices through their location sharing that his father is leaving the city, and Dexter promises to return in time.

Dexter does overpower and kill Walker, but he misses the ceremony. Harrison acts as though everything is fine, and Dexter accepts that explanation rather than start an uncomfortable conversation. The episode lets the cost of that choice sit without forcing a confrontation.

Dexter also leaves Walker’s body behind for the police to find, which is unusual for someone who normally works to remove evidence. Joey Quinn then appears at Dexter’s door, now a private investigator working for families who lost people to Prater’s crew, and Dexter offers his help while making a mental note to watch him.

Harrison, for his part, goes out with friends after the ceremony and spends the night with a woman who turns out to be a fellow police officer. With Charley’s plan taking shape, Quinn circling closer, and Harrison starting to build a life of his own, do you think Dexter can keep trusting Charley while the cost of missing that graduation keeps growing?
