Cara Delevingne Wants Into the Bond Franchise, Even as a Villain
The search for the next 007 is still months from producing an answer, but that isn’t stopping stars from pitching themselves for the James Bond franchise. The latest is Cara Delevingne, who used a red carpet to share her Bond dream. Denis Villeneuve is set to begin casting Bond 26 once he finishes production on ‘Dune: Part Three’, with the search focused on a fresh face: a relatively unknown male actor from the British Isles, possibly in his late 20s or early 30s.
Delevingne was there to promote a very different film. She attended A24’s ‘Club Kid’ Los Angeles premiere at the Vista Theatre on Nov. 4, 2026. The comedy-drama is Jordan Firstman’s feature directorial debut, following a New York party promoter whose life changes when a 10-year-old son he never knew about shows up.
The topic of 007 still came up. Speaking with Variety on the red carpet, Delevingne joked that she’d happily be the next “Jane” Bond, and if that’s not possible, she’d settle for at least playing a villain in the franchise. It was a lighthearted moment, but it’s not the first time she’s said she wants a part in the spy series.
Delevingne has wanted this for a while. Back in 2017, at the European premiere of ‘Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets’ in London, she told The Sun that she wanted to play James Bond herself, arguing that women could do the job just as well. At the time, she was often suggested as a possible future Bond girl, but she made clear she wanted the lead role.

Her latest comments are more playful, especially the villain fallback. Bond movies have always had memorable antagonists, so it’s easy to see why that might appeal to an actress who has spent years in edgier roles.
The franchise is in a major transition. Amazon MGM Studios is producing, with David Heyman and Amy Pascal as producers and Steven Knight writing, and shooting is expected to start in 2027. A release is likely in October or November 2028.

Based on current reports, Delevingne’s “Jane Bond” idea is unlikely. According to Deadline’s sources, the filmmakers want to cast an unknown male actor as 007. Still, nothing has been officially announced about the villains or supporting cast, so her backup plan is more realistic.
For now, Delevingne is focused on a film that’s getting plenty of praise. She plays Sophie, Peter’s business partner, who has had enough of his chaos. The ensemble also includes Diego Calva, Kirby Howell-Baptiste, Colleen Camp, Vicki Pepperdine, Nigil Whyte, Eldar Isgandarov, performance artist Saturn Risin9, Miss Benny and Alaska Riley.

Critics have been strongly positive. ‘Club Kid’ premiered in the Un Certain Regard section of the Cannes Film Festival on May 15, earning a standing ovation of roughly 6 to 7 minutes and nominations for the Caméra d’Or and the Queer Palm. IndieWire gave it an A- and suggested it could break out beyond its niche-seeming premise. The film opens in select U.S. theaters on Nov. 6, with a nationwide rollout to follow.
The film also seems personal to her. At the premiere, she told PEOPLE that queer nightlife was the “first place” she “found real belonging.” She also released her debut album, ‘Not Normal’, in September. Whether or not Villeneuve and Amazon call, Delevingne has made her interest clear. With casting expected to begin soon, there will be plenty more names in the conversation.
