The first two seasons of ‘Monster’ had mixed reviews but were still successful, reaching the top spot on Netflix in their first week. ‘The Jeffrey Dahmer Story’ became Netflix’s second most-watched English-language series, passing 1 billion hours viewed in 60 days.

It earned four Golden Globe nominations and six Emmy nominations, with Evan Peters winning Best Actor and Niecy Nash winning Outstanding Supporting Actress. The ‘Lyle and Erik Menendez’ Story also received three Golden Globe nominations.

It wasn’t that much of a surprise when ‘Monster’ was renewed for season 3. In September 2024, it was announced that the third season, called ‘The Original Monster,’ would focus on the killer Ed Gein, played by Charlie Hunnam.

Now industry insider Jeff Sneider reports via his newsletter that Addison Rae, the popular social media star and actress, has joined the cast of ‘Monster’ Season 3.

Rae is best known for her viral TikTok videos where she shares dance routines and lifestyle content. She gained fame quickly and has since expanded her career into acting, starring in the Netflix film ‘He’s All That.’ In addition to her online presence, Rae has also launched a music career and has become a well-known brand ambassador.

Production for the season was set to start in October 2024. It was confirmed on October 4 that the season will be called ‘The Original Monster,’ focusing on Ed Gein’s life as the first “celebrity serial killer” and exploring how true crime became a part of popular culture.

Gein was a notorious American murderer and body snatcher, known for his gruesome crimes in the 1950s. He was arrested for the murders of two women, but it was revealed that he also exhumed corpses from local graveyards and made items from their remains. Gein’s crimes inspired many fictional characters, including Norman Bates from ‘Psycho’ and Leatherface from ‘The Texas Chainsaw Massacre.’
