‘Agatha All Along’ Creator Teases Mephisto’s Expanded Role in the MCU — Here’s When We Think He’ll Make His Appearance!

Agatha All Along is a refreshing addition to the MCU, shining a light on the often-overlooked magical and supernatural aspects of the universe. As a result, we can anticipate the introduction of numerous new characters who will play vital roles in the future of magic.

Among these characters is Mephisto, a highly significant figure in the comics, who was mentioned in the latest episode of the show.

Although the show has yet to give us a first look at Mephisto, Jennifer Kale, the potion witch, has confirmed his existence within the MCU. In a conversation with the Teen, she cautioned him against trusting Agatha and hinted that Agatha might have sacrificed her son for the Darkhold, implying that her son could be an agent of Mephisto.

Before the show premiered, fans speculated about Mephisto’s potential appearance or at least a reference to him, with one theory suggesting he cast a sigil on the Teen due to a supposed deal between them.

Recently, Jac Schaeffer, the showrunner of Agatha All Along, discussed Mephisto and his potential expanded role in an interview with Entertainment Weekly:

With these shows, so often there is something that is at once a joke and a wink and a nod, and actually has something legitimate underneath it.

As we all know, Mephisto is a character who’s very wrapped into Agatha’s storyline. I mean, people have to watch, but we’re always playing with the audience in that way.

This news may be disappointing for those eagerly anticipating Mephisto’s appearance, but don’t worry! While there were rumors about Mephisto showing up in Agatha All Along, his first appearance in the MCU might actually come in a project you might not expect—Ironheart.

Ironheart will center on Riri Williams, described as Tony Stark’s successor in the MCU. However, her standalone series will blend technology, magic, and demons, as the young superhero may need to harness her technical skills to face supernatural threats.

Rumors about Mephisto’s involvement in the show have been circulating for over a year, with some sources suggesting he will be portrayed by Sacha Baron Cohen. The fact that Anthony Ramos is set to play the villain The Hood, who sold his soul to Mephisto, further bolsters this theory.
