‘Aggretsuko Season 5’ Ending Explained: Does Haida Find a New Job?
Welcome to the Ending Explained for Aggretsuko Season 5. This is the last season of the Aggretsuko Netflix series and is one of the best in the show. The season brings everything to a climax, where all the relationships, friends, and people that Retsuko has met throughout the years combine into one emotional and exciting ending. This season also explores some very important and serious issues that plague Japanese society nowadays, so it feels quite relevant that a show like this can jump into those subjects.
The series continues to use flash animation, but unlike South Park, the amount of detail that the animators add to the backgrounds is quite amazing. We get new sights and environments from Tokyo this season; they all look quite majestic. It is great to see that even when the show has opted for this simple and sometimes minimalist art style, it hasn’t stopped the animators from creating something that feels like a complete package. Sadly, this is the show’s final season, but we are sure the Sanrio company will keep Retsuko and his friends in our minds for years to come.

Does Haida Find A New Job?
Retsuko is still the show’s main character, but Haida, her boyfriend, manages to receive the most screen time this season. Especially during the first half of the season, the show is completely dedicated to him and his struggles. In the previous season, Haida ended up quitting his job in accounting, and now he has been just spending his time playing video games. But not just any video game. He has been playing online video games with digital purchases, the infamous microtransactions.
As expected, Haida has become addicted to rolling the dice on those digital purchases and spending quite a bit on them. Retsuko doesn’t know what to do, but everyone around her warns her that Haida has become a slacker and that she should put an ultimatum on him and force him to look for a job. Retsuko does it and informs Haida that until he finds a new job, they cannot see each other. Haida becomes worried that Retsuko might just leave him.

On top of that, his brother Jiro visits him at home and tells him he has until the end of the month to find a new place, as they found a new tenant for the apartment. Haida is forced to leave his apartment, and without enough money to rent another place, he finds himself desperate and ends up at a net café where many desperate people rent cubicles to spend the night. There, Haida meets a girl named, Shikanabe, who plays with him in the game.
Haida makes some friends who also live in the net café. Clearly, these people want to get out of their situation, but they cannot. There are different reasons why, but Haida feels like he is slowly transforming into one of them. Shikanabe especially seems to have given up on the world, and she has everything she needs at the café. Retsuko and her friend find out that Haida is in this terrible situation and rescue him. Retsuko allows him to start living with her. They decide if they will live together, they should meet each other’s parents.
Does Retsuko Win The Election At The End Of Season 5?
Retsuko and Haida start living together. Retsuko is very happy at first, but a month later, he wants to throw Haida at the sun. It is hard to start living with someone else and adapt to always having that person there after meeting some friends and having a talk with his former boss, Mr. Tom. Haida decides to follow what he truly loves, coding and becoming an IT engineer. First, they visit Retsuko’s parents. It is all well and dandy until Haida speaks the truth about him being unemployed.
However, Retsuko’s parents aren’t that hard, but they silently don’t approve. Things go the other way around when Retsuko meets Haida’s family. It is revealed that Haida is the son of a very powerful politician and the family’s black sheep. His mother is sweet, but his father and younger brother, Jiro, are awful people. They leave the meeting on very bad terms. Retsuko doesn’t understand why Haida’s father and brother are so mean.

Mr. Ikari, the leader of the Rage Party, starts looking for Retsuko. An election is coming, and he believes they can win with Retsuko as the party’s candidate. Retsuko is doubtful, but when Ikari says that he believes Retsuko’s death voice can reach the masses and give a voice to the people who don’t have one, she accepts. They find a new HQ, all of Retsuko’s friends volunteer to help her with her campaign, and even Mr. Tom gives her another amazing pep talk.
Retsuko manages to become incredibly popular, and she gives one last death speech under the rain. However, Jiro also has a speech ready, revealing his plans for his campaign, including a bill to get older politicians out of government positions, including his father. The people go to vote, and Jiro wins by a landslide. Retsuko feels happy, though, because so many people believe in her. She even manages to have a karaoke night with Shikanabe. Shikanabe then starts looking for her own place.
The show ends as it started, with Retsuko in a packed train, getting angrier and angrier.
