All 3 ‘Father Christmas’ Movies in Order

If you’re a fan of Hallmark Movies & Mysteries originals – especially their lighthearted Christmas romantic comedies – then you’ll love the ‘Father Christmas’ film series. It consists of three movies revolving around the same characters, released in three consecutive years from 2016 to 2018. If you want to know the correct order and where to watch the ‘Father Christmas’ movies, you’re in the right place.
‘Father Christmas’ movies in order by release date
As we’ve mentioned, the ‘Father Christmas’ series is a trilogy that started on the Hallmark Channel in 206 and finished in 2018. If you want to just dive right into the movies without knowing too much about the plot, here’s the correct list below:
- ‘Finding Father Christmas‘ (2016)
- ‘Engaging Father Christmas‘ (2017)
- ‘Marrying Father Christmas‘ (2018)
All three movies revolve around the same character and follow their relationship as it progresses from being acquaintances to being married. It’s a classic lighthearted Hallmark Christmas romantic comedy series, so if you’re a fan of the genre, you’ll certainly enjoy these movies as well.
Throughout the rest of the article, I’ll explain what the best way to watch these movies is, where to find them, and if there will be more entries into the series in the future. That being said, watch out for potential minor spoilers in the rest of the article.
Are ‘Father Christmas’ movies connected? What’s the best order to watch them?
‘Father Christmas’ movies are all a part of the same series, revolving around the same characters in the same little town of Carlton Heath in Vermont.
In the first movie, Miranda Chester is a successful young woman who one day discovers a mysterious letter from Santa Claus that prompts her to embark on a journey to Carlton Heath to try and find the truth about her father and her parentage.
Once there, however, she falls in love with a young lawyer/hotelier from the area and finds the true meaning of family, love, and Christmas along the way. In the two sequels, we see Miranda’s relationship with Niall – the young man she fell for – blossom, eventually ending in their marriage.
The Hallmark trilogy we are talking about here should not be mistaken for Netflix’s 2021 film ‘Father Christmas is Back’ and its 2022 sequel ‘Christmas in Paradise.’ those two films are completely separate and not in any way a part of the same series.
Now, the best way to watch the ‘Father Christmas’ movies is by following the release order. In fact, that would probably be the only way that the entire series makes sense for you, as it’s chronologically progressing the story from film to film.
Each film has its own plot and storyline, of course, so you could theoretically watch every movie as a standalone film if you want, but they certainly work the best when seen as a trilogy, in release order.
‘Father Christmas’ movies in chronological order
As I have mentioned in the previous subheading, the chronological order of all the ‘Father Christmas’ movies is the same as the release order. In the first movie, Miranda and Niall meet. They get engaged in the second film, and finally, they marry in the third.
Seeing that there is no confusion about the chronological order of events here, you can just watch the films as they were released and get the full story exactly how it was meant to be told in the first place.
Where to watch the ‘Father Christmas’ movies?
‘Father Christmas’ movies are Hallmark Movies & Mysteries originals, so you can usually find them airing on the Hallmark Channel right around this festive time of the year.
If you miss the films on TV, you can still find them for streaming on FuboTV, Peacock Premium (the first one, for sure; I’m not sure about the second and third), Hallmark Movies Now Amazon Channel, DIRECTV, and The Roku Channel.
They are all also available to buy/rent on Apple TV, Vudu, Amazon, Google Play, and Microsoft Store (the first two, for sure; I’m not sure about the third one).
Will there be more ‘Father Christmas’ movies?
Seeing that the story seemingly finished with the third movie, ‘Marrying Father Christmas,’ I doubt that Hallmark is going to make another ‘Father Christmas’ movie, especially not one revolving around Miranda and Niall.
The third film came out in 2018, and there has been no word about a potential fourth movie since, so it’s likely never going to happen – especially considering the fact that the third movie had arguably the least favorable reviews and ratings.
Still, it’s a very entertaining trilogy to relax to during this cold, festive holiday season, so get your popcorn ready, make some hot winter tea, and enjoy!
