Hallmark is famous for its awesome Christmas original movies that usually grow into series. One of those series – and one of Hallmark’s best Christmas movie series for many fans – is the ‘Time to Come Home for Christmas’ series. So far, there are five ‘Time To Come Home For Christmas’ movies released, but more are coming very soon!

If you want to check these films out but don’t know how many are there and in which order to watch them – you’re in the right place! Here’s everything you need to know about Hallmark’s ‘Time to Come Home for Christmas’ movies in order.

‘Time to Come Home for Christmas’ movies in order by release date

As we have mentioned before, ‘Time to Come Home for Christmas’ is one of the best-rated Hallmark Christmas movie series to date. If you want to jump right into the series without me revealing too much about the plots and characters, here’s the full series by release date:

  1. ‘Time for Me to Come Home for Christmas’ (2018)
  2. ‘Time for You to Come Home for Christmas’ (2019)
  3. ‘Time for Us to Come Home for Christmas’ (2020)
  4. ‘Time for Them to Come Home for Christmas’ (2021)
  5. ‘Time for Him to Come Home for Christmas’ (2022)
  6. ‘Time for Her to Come Home for Christmas’ (2023)

Throughout the rest of the article, I’ll explain how all of these movies are or aren’t connected to each other and share the best way to watch them. Minor spoilers are possible throughout the rest of the article!

Are ‘Time to Come Home for Christmas’ movies connected?

The ‘Time to Come Home for Christmas’ movies are somewhat connected to each other, but only in a minor way that’s not really related to the plots of each film. You see, the entire series is envisioned as an anthology, with every movie happening in a different place, revolving around different characters, and having completely different plots.

However, there are connections between the films, naturally, as they are a part of the same series. All the movies have a similar atmosphere and a warm vibe around them. You might say they are connected ‘spiritually’ despite the fact that the plots and characters don’t necessarily intertwine. You might find tiny references from one movie to another, but that’s about it.

That being said, the biggest connection between the movies is the song that the films are sort of based on. The song in question is ‘Time for Me to Come Home’ by Blake Shelton and Dorothy Shackleford, released in 2021. The song is featured in every movie in various forms and capacities.

Shelton and Shackleford are also the producers of the entire ‘Time to Come Home for Christmas’ movie series, while the song is based on a book written by Shackleford and Travis Thrasher, also titled ‘Time for Me to Come Home.’

What’s the best order to watch ‘Time to Come Home for Christmas’ movies?

Seeing that ‘Time to Come Home for Christmas’ movies are an anthology series, you can watch them in any order you want without missing out on plot details, character development, etc. Every movie can stand alone and be watched separately from the rest of the series.

Still, I believe the best way to watch these movies is by their release order. Although the plots aren’t connected, there are still tiny references in latter installments of the series that refer to earlier films (like the ‘Stone Bridge’ blackberry jam that appears in ‘Time for Him to Come Home for Christmas’ as a little reference/Easter Egg from the first movie).

It’s not something important for the plot, but it’s cool to see and recognize those little references as you watch the films.

Also, I recommend watching by release date because, quite frankly, the series became better and better as it progressed with each movie. The IMDb rating of the films can attest to that as well – the first film has a 6.6/10 rating, the second and third are at 7.0/10, the fourth is standing at 7.2/10, and the fifth, released last year, has a lovely 7.5/10 IMDb rating.

Therefore, if you watch by release date and actually like the first film, it means you’ll just be working up to even better films of the same vibe.

‘Time to Come Home for Christmas’ movies in chronological order

Every movie in the ‘Time to Come Home for Christmas’ series is a standalone story, so there is really no point in ordering the movies in any particular chronological order of events. The truth is, you can either watch the films by release date, or in any other order you want, and you won’t miss out on anything in terms of plot or character development.

You can, for instance, watch the movies based on the actors you like the most first and then work your way through the rest of the films with actors you know or like less. Any way you choose is the right way!

Where to watch the above-mentioned movies?

All of these movies are Hallmark Movies & Mysteries originals, so airings can be found on the Hallmark channel frequently, especially during this time of the year – Christmas time.

However, if you miss the airings or don’t have Hallmark, you can find most of these films for streaming on FuboTV, DIRECTV, or the Hallmark Movies Now Amazon Channel. Some of these films were also available on the Hallmark Hub tab on Peacock, but you can positively find each of these films to buy/rent on Apple TV, Amazon Video, Vudu, and Google Play Movies.

You didn’t hear it from me, but I think I’ve seen one or two of these films fully uploaded to YouTube as well…

Will there be more ‘Time to Come Home for Christmas’ movies?

Fans of the series – or fans of Hallmark Christmas movies in general – were very happy to hear that another ‘Time to Come Home for Christmas’ movie was getting released recently!

In fact, The Hallmark Channel’s Countdown to Christmas on W Network has already started in October – yes, October – with 44 new holiday films announced and slated on their schedule.

One of the films that fans found on the schedule above is the sixth ‘Time to Come Home for Christmas’ movie, titled ‘Time for Her to Come Home for Christmas.’ The movie came out on November 30, 2023, when it first premiered on W Network.

As for more ‘Time to Come Home for Christmas’ movies after the sixth film – who knows? If the movie is as successful as the rest of the series, there’s no doubt that Hallmark will be interested in making more of these movies as long as they are watched and adored by fans.
