Amazon Prime Shuts Down Fan-Favorite Series After Two Seasons—Viewers React in Shock
Amazon Prime Video has officially ended its superhero spin-off Gen V, confirming that the series will not return for a third season. The news was reported by Variety, marking the end of the The Boys universe offshoot after two seasons.
Gen V first arrived in 2023 and quickly became part of Amazon’s expanding superhero world. Its second season aired in September 2025 and now serves as the show’s final installment. The decision brings the story to a close after a relatively short run compared to other titles in the same universe.
Even though the series is ending, the characters themselves are not being retired completely. According to executive producers Eric Kripke and Evan Goldberg, parts of the story will continue in other projects connected to The Boys. They confirmed that viewers will see familiar characters again in future installments.
They said, “While we wish we could keep the party going another season at Godolkin, we’re committed to continuing the ‘Gen V’ characters’ stories in ‘The Boys’ Season 5 and other VCU projects on the horizon. You’ll see them again.”
The show also experienced a tragic moment during its production history. In April 2024, actor Chance Perdomo, who starred in the series, died in a motorcycle accident. His passing deeply affected the cast and crew. His family released a statement at the time saying, “His passion for the arts and insatiable appetite for life was felt by all who knew him, and his warmth will carry on in those who he loved dearest. We ask you to please respect the family’s wish for privacy as they mourn the loss of their beloved son and brother.”
The second season was later dedicated to his memory as a tribute.
While Gen V is now finished, the wider universe it belongs to is still growing. The final season of The Boys is currently in progress, and new spin-offs are already being planned. One upcoming project is Vought Rising, a prequel series expected in 2027. Another titled The Boys: Mexico is also in development, although its release date has not been announced yet.
This cancellation may feel sudden, especially since Gen V had strong interest and ties to a popular franchise. At the same time, it looks like the creators are shifting focus toward building a larger shared universe instead of continuing every single spin-off.
