Anthony Mackie Jokingly Names the MCU Stars He’d Boot from the Avengers Group Chat: “He’s condescending in a smart way”

‘Captain America: Brave New World’ is currently in theaters and Anthony Mackie and his co-star Danny Ramirez are promoting the movie. During their latest appearance on ‘The Hot Ones’ the co-stars had a casual conversation regarding aspects of the MCU – all in joking manner.
At one point, Ramirez asked Mackie which Avengers group chat member he would kick out if he had to, confirming that the chat is still active.
Ramirez: Even though it’s been 6 years since Endgame hit theaters, the Avengers chat remains quite active to this day. If you had to kick one person out of the chat, who would it be and why?
Mackie took a few seconds to think about the question, but eventually settled on one surprising name:
Mackie: I would kick Paul Rudd.
He explained that Rudd has a clever and subtle way of being condescending, making it hard to respond because you don’t realize you’ve been insulted until later. As for Don Cheadle, Mackie didn’t give a specific reason but included him in the joke.
He’s condescending in a smart way, so there’s no way to get back at him. So he’ll tell you something and you don’t realize it is an insult until you’re off the chat. And then there’s no way to come back to it. He just has dismantled you. Him and Don Cheadle. Actually, he and Don Cheadle I would kick out of the chat.
Despite the teasing, Mackie emphasized the close bond between Marvel actors, comparing it to a sibling-like relationship or a summer camp experience. He also expressed gratitude that Cheadle attended the ‘Captain America: Brave New World’ premiere to support him, showing that their friendship remains strong.
You know the best thing about the Marvel world, the Marvel universe. It’s like siblings… like going to camp. So everybody chimes in and makes sure that you’re supported. It meant a lot to me, Don Cheadle came to the [Captain America: Brave New World] premiere to tell me congratulations.
Ramirez jokingly commented that he didn’t say s*** to him but Mackie explained that their friendship goes a long way.
Mackie was later asked to rank his ‘Captain America’ scene partners from most to least talented. His choices were Chris Evans, Danny Ramirez, and Sebastian Stan.
Out of respect for Evans, who played Captain America before him, Mackie put the fan-favorite actor at the top of the list. Next, he ranked Ramirez in the second place.
This meant his close friend, Sebastian Stan, landed in last place. However, Mackie made it clear he wasn’t actually criticizing Stan’s acting skills—he was just having fun.
