Are Wesley Snipes’ Blade and the Midnight Sons Project Behind the Indefinite Delay of the ‘Blade’ Reboot?

After years of development challenges, it looks like the MCU’s upcoming ‘Blade’ reboot may never happen. This highly anticipated film has been dealing with significant issues even before the recent SAG-AFTRA strikes.
The movie, which focuses on the iconic vampire hunter Eric Brooks, was meant to revive the beloved ‘Blade’ trilogy that played a key role in shaping the current MCU.
Since Mahershala Ali was cast as Blade in 2018, the project has faced ongoing script problems and has gone through multiple writers and directors. Some reports suggest that Mahershala Ali might be part of the issue, while others point to the story and scripting as the main concerns.
Recently, it was announced that ‘Blade’ has been removed from Disney’s release schedule. The film, which was supposed to be released on November 7, 2025, is now delayed indefinitely. That date has been taken over by ‘Predator: Badlands.’ With the current rumors, it seems unlikely that ‘Blade’ will see the light of day anytime soon.
Now that ‘Blade’ is on hold, fans can start speculating about what’s next for the supernatural side of the MCU. It’s possible that some elements of the planned movie will be incorporated into the ‘Midnight Sons’ project.
While Marvel Studios hasn’t officially confirmed this project, there have been several updates in recent months, including reports that ‘Logan’ writer Michael Green has been hired to write the script.
It seems that the MCU might be putting Blade on hold to introduce another team of superheroes. This doesn’t mean that Mahershala Ali won’t play Blade; it just means he may not get a solo film. Since Blade is part of the Midnight Sons in the comics, it would make sense for him to have a significant role in that team.
Rumors suggest that the next phase of the MCU will focus on supernatural elements, and the Midnight Sons would be the perfect group to tackle those kinds of threats.
The delay of the Blade movie could also be linked to Wesley Snipes’ recent return to the role. After the release of ‘Deadpool & Wolverine,’ there’s been a lot of buzz about bringing back Snipes, who played Blade in three films about 20 years ago.
Fans are thrilled about this possibility, and Ryan Reynolds, who stars in ‘Deadpool & Wolverine,’ has expressed his excitement about working with Snipes and supports the idea of a new ‘Blade’ movie featuring him.
It’s possible that the studio has noticed the positive reactions to Snipes’ return and might want to include him as an older mentor figure while keeping Mahershala Ali as the main Blade in the MCU for now.
