The eagerly awaited ‘Blade’ reboot has encountered major challenges well before the recent SAG-AFTRA strikes. This MCU film, centered on the legendary vampire hunter Eric Brooks, aims to reboot the beloved ‘Blade’ trilogy that played a crucial role in shaping the modern MCU.
Since Mahershala Ali initially pitched the concept and was officially cast as Blade in 2018, the project has faced ongoing script issues and has undergone numerous changes in writers and directors during its development.
Some reports suggest that Mahershala Ali is at the center of the problems with the ‘Blade’ reboot, while others point to issues with the story and scripting. A few weeks ago, we reported that the studio would soon make a decision about the project’s future, along with the similarly troubled ‘Armor Wars’ film.
That “soon” has arrived, but it hasn’t brought any good news for the beleaguered reboot. According to THR, ‘Blade’ has been removed from Disney’s official release slate, where it was originally scheduled to debut on November 7, 2025.
This film has already faced multiple delays, and it now appears that this latest delay may be indefinite. The November 7 date has been reassigned to ‘Predator: Badlands.’ Given the ongoing insider reports and rumors, it seems increasingly unlikely that the movie will ever be released.
However, not all the news is grim. Disney has announced release dates for three untitled Marvel films in 2028: February 18, May 5, and November 10. One of these films is likely the ‘X-Men’ reboot, although details are scarce. We do know that Michael Lesslie has been brought on board to write the script.
One of these untitled projects is expected to be the ‘Young Avengers’ film, which has been rumored to be in development since the release of ‘The Marvels,’ where Kamala Khan began laying the groundwork for the new generation of Avengers.
As for ‘Blade,’ there are rumors that Marvel Studios is now fast-tracking the ‘Midnight Sons’ project. While ‘Blade’ may be sidelined, there is still potential to bring the character back into the MCU through ‘Midnight Sons.’
