‘Avengers 5’ Gets Major Updates on Villains, Director, and Cast!

Out of all the movies on Marvel Studios’ release schedule, the ‘Avengers’ series is definitely the most exciting. We know that two new ‘Avengers’ movies are being worked on, and for the fifth one, a lot has happened in the past few months.

The latest news and rumors give us more details, as Deadline reports that the studio is getting close to picking a director for the movie.

According to Deadline, Waldron has handed the script for the upcoming movie to Shawn Levy. Levy is known for ‘Night at the Museum,’ ‘Stranger Things,’ ‘Free Guy,’ and the upcoming ‘Deadpool & Wolverine,’ which is expected to be a huge hit.

Levy hasn’t accepted the role yet, and we should get confirmation in the coming weeks. Deadline also reports that over 60 MCU characters might return, including Mark Ruffalo, Chris Hemsworth, Benedict Cumberbatch, Tom Hiddleston, Simu Liu, and Karen Gillan. Unlike the first four films that focused on a core group led by Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson, Hemsworth, and Ruffalo, this film will feature many characters equally, making it an ensemble piece.

There’s also the question of the main villain. ‘Avengers 5’ is set to start production next year, but it’s still unclear if Kang the Conqueror will remain the main villain of the movie and this phase.

After Majors’ problematic dismissal, there have been many rumors and speculations about the studio either recasting Kang or choosing a different villain altogether.

Overall, it’s clear that ‘Avengers 5′ will be the studio’s biggest production yet. Filming was supposed to take place in the United Kingdom but faced delays due to Majors’ firing. ‘Avengers 5’ is scheduled for release on May 1, 2026.
