‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ – What We Know: Plot, Cast, Release Date, and More
‘Deadpool & Wolverine‘ is a significant release this year, marking Deadpool’s debut in the MCU, a move fans have long awaited. It’s part of a new strategy aimed at restoring faith in the franchise and the studio.
With so much hype surrounding the film, there’s plenty of information circulating about the plot, cast, and expected appearances. We’ve gathered all the details in one place to give you a comprehensive guide to the upcoming movie. Let’s dive in!
Deadpool’s Role in Ensuring Multiverse Stability
Very little is known about the movie’s plot except for some speculations. However, based on the trailer and footage shown at CinemaCon, a few things can be confirmed. Attendees at CinemaCon were treated to an exclusive 9-minute preview of Deadpool & Wolverine. The footage introduces Wade Wilson, now working as a car salesman who is forced to sell Blind Al’s blood pressure medications on the side to pay his rent, along with his X-Force teammate Peter, who still holds onto Deadpool’s old costume, hinting at a return to crime-fighting. At a surprise birthday party, familiar X-Men characters like Colossus and Negasonic Teenage Warhead make appearances. Wade’s relationship with Vanessa is shown to be amicable but no longer romantic, as the two have split up. Vanessa also has a new boyfriend.
During the celebration, Wade is interrupted by the TVA and transported to meet Mr. Paradox, who offers him a chance to play a significant role in the multiverse’s sacred timeline as they need him to protect it. Wade receives a suit upgrade and adamantium swords. Amidst humorous moments like breaking the fourth wall, Wade embraces his new role with flair. It’s revealed that Wade wasn’t captured by the TVA because of his actions in ‘Deadpool 2’ when he stole Cable’s time-traveling device, but for a different reason that remains undisclosed. Cassandra Nova is set to be the movie’s villain, with motives that are currently unknown.
Now that we’ve covered the official information, let’s delve into the “unofficial details.” Several intriguing rumors have resurfaced in recent weeks, and while they haven’t been confirmed by official sources, they do seem plausible. Allegedly, the movie will primarily take place in the Void, the same void we saw in the ‘Loki’ TV show, which would make sense if Deadpool is going to interact with the mainline MCU. The film is also said to introduce the concept of an “anchor,” a person upon whom the existence of a certain timeline or universe depends. If that “anchor” dies, the universe dies with them. And no, Deadpool is allegedly not that anchor, in case you were wondering.
In the recently released trailer, Deadpool is seen attempting to enlist Wolverine’s help, revealing that Wolverine is somehow responsible for the downfall of his reality. Meanwhile, Cassandra Nova has established her headquarters inside the colossal head of Ant-Man, where she leads an army of former minor X-Men villains.
Shawn Levy recently clarified that ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ is NOT a continuation of ‘Deadpool 2.’
Recently an official synopsis of the movie has been published:
Marvel Studios presents their most significant mistake to date – “Deadpool & Wolverine.” A listless Wade Wilson toils away in civilian life. His days as the morally flexible mercenary Deadpool, behind him. When his homework faces an existential threat, Wade must reluctantly suit-up again with an even more reluctantlier…reluctantler? Reluctantest? He must convince reluctant Wolverine to-Fuck. Synopses are so fucking stupid.
