Are all ‘Ben 10’ series & movies connected? What is the best way to watch them?
All ‘Ben 10’ animated series and movies are connected, but the franchise was rebooted with ‘Ben 10 (2016),’ so it can’t exactly be said that it’s set within the same continuity when the universe has been rebooted from scratch. The movie ‘Ben 10 Versus the Universe’, released in 2020, also belongs to the same continuity. As far as the watch order goes, you can watch in release date order or in chronological order. If you’re interested only in the new canon, you can always start with the 2017 series.
All ‘Ben 10’ series and movies in chronological order
This section is going to list the Ben 10 franchise in the proper chronological order. The order doesn’t coincide with the actual release order, but we’ve opted to go with the plot as a relevant factor.
1. ‘Ben 10’ (2005-2008) 4 Seasons
Ten-year-old Benjamin Tennyson aspires to be a hero, eager to assist his neighbor. While on a camping trip during his school break with his mature and intelligent cousin Gwen, and his grandfather Max, he stumbles upon a space escape capsule that crashed on Earth. Inside, he finds a watch-shaped object with peculiar powers known as the Omnitrix, which attaches itself to his wrist.
2. ‘Ben 10: Secret of the Omnitrix’ (2007) – watch alongside Ben 10 (2005) S04E05
The Omnitrix is a very complex weapon, and this movie provides a very good explanation and overview of it. The creator of the Omnitrix is called Asmath. He belongs to the race of aliens that Ben can transform into, the Grey Matter. While Ben was fighting Dr. Animo with Eyegu, he previously activated the DNA bomb that puts the Omnitrix into SDM (self-destruct mode).
3. ‘Ben 10: Race Against Time’ (2007)
Ben faces a new enemy, Eon, who manipulates time to control the world. As Ben discovers Eon’s plan, he must use the power of the Omnitrix to thwart the villain and save his hometown, Bellwood, from a time-altering catastrophe. It’s a race against time to protect the world from Eon’s temporal threats!
4. ‘Ben 10: Destroy All Aliens’ (2011)
Ben Tennyson finds himself in a cosmic predicament when his Omnitrix malfunctions, causing intergalactic havoc. As he transforms into an unfamiliar alien, Ben must navigate the chaos and uncover the mystery behind the malfunction. Along the way, he encounters a formidable new foe, and the fate of the Earth hangs in the balance.
5. ‘Ben 10: Alien Force’ (2008-2010) – 3 seasons
Five years after the events in the first series, the now 15-year-old Ben Tennyson is back in normal everyday life. Gone are his hero days. Ben took off the Omnitrix and quickly went from being a child to acting like a confident boy. However, the mysterious disappearance of Grandpa Max prompts him to don the Omnitrix once again and, along with his cousin Gwen and a completely changed Kevin Levin, try to locate him.
6. ‘Ben 10: Alien Swarm’ (2009) – watch between Alien Force S03E10 and S03E11
Viktor Validus has been missing for several weeks. His daughter, Elena, tells Ben she has lost sight of him for a few years and asks him for help finding him. Helped by his acolytes, Ben must stop the proliferation of the “Swarm” before it infects the world. The group then races against time despite protests from Ben and Gwen’s grandfather, Max.
7. ‘Ben 10: Ultimate Alien’ (2010-2012) – 3 Seasons
A few months have passed since the ‘Ben 10: Alien Force’ finale. Ben, now 16, continues his heroic career with the Ultimatrix, a new and improved version of the Omnitrix. However, a young fan of him discovers his identity and makes it public. Although he easily gains the trust of children and his classmates, he also has to face the mistrust and open hostility of several adults, including in the media, who see him as a threat.
8. ‘Ben 10: Omniverse’ (2012-2014) – 8 seasons
The series follows the story of the now 16-year-old Ben Tennyson, the bearer of the Omnitrix, a watch-like device that allows the user to transform into all 60 aliens in its database. After the pursuit of the evil clown Zombozo, Ben is left alone in Bellwood as her cousin Gwen goes to college, and Kevin has found a job near her college.
Ben is sorry, but he finally becomes a lone hero. In any case, Ben’s grandfather, Max Tennyson, who already knew of Gwen and Kevin’s departure, assigns him a new partner: Rook Blonko.
9. ‘Ben 10 (2016)’ (2017-2021) – 4 Seasons
‘Ben 10 (2016)’ is a reboot of the original series, following 10-year-old Ben Tennyson as he discovers the Omnitrix, a powerful device that allows him to transform into various alien creatures. Alongside his cousin Gwen and Grandpa Max, Ben uses his newfound abilities to battle villains and save the world. The series introduces new aliens, updates the animation style, and offers a fresh take on Ben’s adventures while staying true to the essence of the original concept.
10. ‘Ben 10 Versus the Universe’ (2020)
This movie is also part of the new continuity. Ben Tennyson faces a cosmic threat when a malfunctioning Omnitrix accidentally signals an alien warlord named Vilgax. Ben and his team embark on an intergalactic adventure to save the universe, encountering new aliens and formidable challenges. As Ben unlocks new powers and faces Vilgax’s army, he must rise to the occasion and prove himself as the hero the universe needs.
