Ben Affleck Says ‘The Flash’ Is His Last Movie As Batman
Batman V Superman and Justice League star Ben Affleck finally opened up about his incarnation of the Caped Crusader in DCEU. While talking about his newest film The Tender Bar, Affleck also cleared out his DCEU situation.
Ben Affleck debuted as Bruce Wayne/Batman in Zack Snyder’s Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice, and later reprised the role in David Ayer’s Suicide Squad and Justice League, Back then, Affleck was set to direct and star in the Batman solo movie set in the DCEU, but the project was reestablished as the new reboot set outside of DCEU, in which Robert Pattinson will star as the World’s Greatest Detective.
Affleck agreed to film one additional scene with Jared Leto’s Joker for the final scene of Zack Snyder’s Justice League. Affleck is now set to return one more time in the upcoming movie The Flash, in which Ezra Miller is playing the titular character. Affleck now revealed that The Flash will bring closure to his Batman, and some rumors are saying that Michael Keaton’s Batman, who will also show up in the movie, will now be reportedly established as DCEU’s main Batman, thanks to The Flash’s tricks with time-traveling and the concept of the Multiverse.
“I have never said this – this is hot off the presses – but maybe my favourite scenes in terms of Batman and the interpretation of Batman that I have done, were in the Flash movie. I hope they maintain the integrity of what we did because I thought it was great and really interesting – different, but not in a way that is incongruent with the character. Who knows? Maybe they will decide that it doesn’t work, but when I went and did it, it was really fun and really, really satisfying and encouraging and I thought, ‘Wow – I think I have finally figured it out’.” — Ben Affleck for the Herald Sun
Affleck aditionaly praised the upcoming movie The Flash, saying it’s “put a really nice finish on [his] experience with that character.”
Ever since Zack Synder’s Justice League was released, DC fans have been doing a campaign on social media called #RestoreTheSnyderVerse in hope that WB will allow Zack Snyder to finish his vision of the DCEU, which included two more Justice League movies and a few more solo movies featuring Justice League members. Some reports were saying that Affleck was offered to make an HBOMax series featuring his Batman, but Affleck refused.
The Flash movie is reportedly set to revitalize the DCEU. Ezra Miller returns as the titular character, while Ben Affleck and Michael Keaton are reprising their respective Batman roles. The movie will also introduce DCEU’s Supergirl, played by Sasha Calle.
Directed by Andy Muschietti, The Flash is set to premiere on November 4, 2022.
