Mercury: A Broadcast of Hope
Mercury: A Broadcast of Hope is a daily (yes, every day) audio drama. Having launched in 2017 today (2021-09-15) is Day 1440. Mercury tells the story of a small group of people living in or around a college radio station broadcasting messages of hope and survival during the zombie apocalypse.
Rather than focusing on the horror, gore, and death that zombie shows normally feature, we instead strive to give practical survival advice, morale boosts, humor, or just whatever we think our listeners might need to get through the day. We like to say it’s living your best life under the worst circumstances. Starring David Benedict as Max O’Brien, Diana Lancaster as Dr. Rosalind Clark, and Lyssa Hoganson as Agnes Drew.
To preserve the illusion that this is a terrestrial radio broadcast, each episode is only available for 24 hours and then disappears to be replaced by the next day’s episode. There are a handful of episodes that are permanently available to give new listeners context, but the vast majority expire daily.

Venice
Fans of Nine Perfect Strangers are loving Venice, a scripted podcast that delves into the spiritual community in the Los Angeles neighborhood of Venice. Created by writer-producer Marisa Bramwell,Venice is centered around Jessica, whose attempt to mend the relationship with her flighty younger sister is upended when she’s lured by a charismatic spiritual leader. “I was inspired to write the show after spending years steeped in the spiritual community in West LA,” Bramwell says.
Over six short episodes, the bingeable scripted series follows Jessica as she tries to prevent her sister Mel from falling into the clutches of Chloe and Axl, the leaders of the spiritual manor Oasis. A former child-star-turned self-made spiritual guru, Chloe is representative of the influence Hollywood and social-media influencer culture have on spirituality, and the community drawn to it. Bramwell notes “the spiritual community in LA is truly a unique group of people.
It includes everyone from failed actors-turned-spiritual influencers to those who are genuinely focused on helping others find healing and happiness in their lives. It can be either incredibly helpful to people, or incredibly dangerous.” The show takes some dark dips into psychological manipulation, drug use, sexual coercion in some circles, while offering moments of comedic relief and lightness.
The important thing to remember when listening to Venice is that it’s quite true to life. “About 95% of what I wrote happened to me or someone I know,” Bramwell states. “It’s concerning, but I think important for people to be aware of.”

Adventures of Tom & Ali: Podcatsters
Adventures of Tom and Ali Cat: Podcatsters is the ever evolving story of what happens after these two frisky felines found a human who offered them unconditional love and unlimited cuddles, and the freedom to get way too high on catnip while listening to podcasts, and the unwavering support to follow their dreams when they realized that there weren’t any podcasts made by cats, for cats and sometimes dogs, if they’re lucky.
Like, what’s that about? Everyone has a podcast these days. Hold on to your earholes, pussycats, because the Podcatsters are up to something, and it’s a 50/50 toss up whether it’ll be a good something or a nefarious, holy-cats-this-is-some-crazy-mess something. Either way, the human must NEVER find out the extent of their plans. It’s for her own good.

Dr. Carter, Mabel’s love, becomes infected with the strongest alien entity, who is determined to torture and kill anyone in his path. But Dr. Carter remains conscious and attempts to fight off the demon within in hopes to rescue Mable.
Dr. Faith, the ship’s leading research scientist, is determined to discover an antidote to this alien invasion, in hopes of rescuing humanity back on Earth, no matter who must die in the process. Rey, the captain’s right hand, is determined to ensure the safety of the mission, crew, and the passengers to the new world, despite their justified mistrust in crew leadership after the true mission is revealed.
Mabel discovers she’s immune after Dr. Carter bites her and she survives, unlike the others. She decides to subject herself to experiments with Dr. Faith, hoping to transfer her immunity to the survivors before Dr. Carter kills them. The experiments increase her power but cause her to lose herself to the alien mind control. Dr. Carter uses this newfound connection to hunt her friends down faster. She must discover a way to remove the connection without dying if she has any hope to transfer her immunity to save humanity.
