While waiting for the release, we decided to present you with the eight best shows like Extraordinary every fan has to watch, and provide you with a few shows you should check out.
What We Do in Shadows (2019-)
What it’s about: Set in New York, the TV series follows four vampires, Laszlo, Nandor, Nadja, and Guillermo. What We Do in Shadows revolves around the lives of the vampires during the nighttime, who have lived on Staten Island for over a hundred years.
Why you should watch it: The show is an adaptation of the 2014 New Zealand film of the same name created by Jemaine Clement and Taika Waititi, and this mockumentary is unique in the sea of various comedy shows. One of the funniest projects we had the joy to watch in the last few years.
She-Hulk: Attorney at Law (2022)
What it’s about: This might be controversial for some people, but She-Hulk definitely has something in common with the upcoming Extraordinary. It doesn’t have British humor like the previous entry but comedy with superpowers, and in She-Hulk’s case, a female protagonist that doesn’t stray away from good humor. Jennifer Walters, or Jen, is a lawyer whose life changes when her DNA fuses with Bruce Banner’s and becomes a strong creature called She-Hulk. Now, she needs to “juggle” her situation and determine how she will live her life both as Jen and She-Hulk.
Why you should watch it: Besides the MCU lore, She-Hulk is worth watching for people who want to spend their afternoon having fun and appreciate callbacks to many great law shows we have watched for decades. Check it out, despite some people insisting that you don’t do it.
Good Omens (2019-2023)
What it’s about: Next, we have a fantasy comedy series created by Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett’s novel of the same name. The cast is filled with great actors like David Tennant, Michael Sheen, Daniel Mays, and more. The series follows the demon Crowley and the angel Aziraphale, who are acquaintances and spend their time on Earth representing Hell and Heaven. The duo became good friends in their time on Earth, but the conflict between their factions can ruin everything, and now they have to do anything in their power to prevent the destruction.
Why you should watch it: Fans of the fantasy genre will absolutely love this show, and humor and great acting will glue the viewers to their screens. It is one of the most pleasant series released on Amazon in years, so definitely check it out.
Sabrina the Teenage Witch (1996-2003)
What it’s about: With this entry, we will present you with Sabrina the Teenage Witch. This cool show is a throwback for many adults today, and one of the more notable teenage shows we have watched. The show follows Sabrina Spellman, a teenager who, on her 16th birthday, learns she has magical powers. She also discovers that her aunts are witches and that her cat Salem can talk. One of the best fantasy comedy shows of the 1990s and 2000s era.
Why you should watch it: Despite being focused on younger audiences, Sabrina’s journey as a witch is truly interesting. What makes this show close to Extraordinary are the fantasy elements combined with comedy, making Sabrina watchable for every age group.
Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency (2016-2017)
What it’s about: We are back with the British series, and this time Dick Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency. This beloved series is adapted from the novel series of the same name and follows holistic detective Dick Gently and his partner Todd. Gently is an eccentric individual who investigates strange cases and applies his investigation methods that are based on interconnectivity. In other words, Dick Gently loves cases that involve supernatural elements.
Why you should watch it: The series is funny, witty, and extremely interesting, especially with the way the protagonist conducts his unique way of investigation. Despite being canceled after the second season, the show was loved by the fans, and frankly, it is still worth watching.
What it’s about: Another British show on this list comes in the form of Misfits. The show follows five juvenile offenders who must work together on a community service project. Still, the clashing of personalities and bad behavior makes the misfits not very friendly with each other. However, the freak electric incident grants each person special superpowers, which they need to figure out.
Why you should watch it: One of the better TV shows that British production developed in that era, and it fits perfectly with the struggles of young adults today. Great acting and a great premise, and definitely a must-watch show.
Dead Like Me (2003-2004)
What it’s about: We are back with the American-produced series Dead Like Me. This cult classic follows the story of eighteen-year-old Georgia “George” Lass, who dies and becomes a grim reaper. After becoming undead, Georgia now removes souls from the people just before they die and sends them to the Afterlife.
Why you should watch it: Despite being only two seasons long, Dead Like Me offers viewers multiple points of view and great storytelling that will glue you to your screen; this show gained a cult following after its surprising cancellation and is for sure a must-watch TV series.
The Good Place (2016-2020)
What it’s about: We end this list with the must-watch feel-good show, The Good Place. It’s set in a town called Good Place, where people’s spirits go when they pass away. The Good Place is a utopian town where only good and kind people come, and Eleanor Shellstrop is far from deserving of the spot. Now, she must hide her imperfect personality and use her time in a Good Place to become a better person.
Why you should watch it: The Good Place is one of the most popular TV comedy and fantasy shows released in recent years, and it offers us great acting, storyline, and characters that are closely relatable to anyone watching. It’s also hilarious and witty; what’s not to like here?
