The Boss Baby movies are a franchise of computer-animated comedy movies. Tom McGrath directed them and they were produced by DreamWorks Animation and released by 20th Century Fox. The first movie was released in 2017 and the movie critics had somewhat mixed feelings about it. Nevertheless, the franchise continued with Alec Baldwin who voices Theodore Templeton a.ka., Boss Baby.

There are currently two Boss Baby movies. The first movie was released in 2017 and the second one four years later in 2021. These movies follow the adventures of Theodore Templeton, a.k.a Boss Baby who is actually an infant and his main goal is to win the war between babies and puppies in the first movie. In the sequel, Ted and his brother are grown-ups, but they are summoned by BabyCorp for help.

In the first movie, Theodore Templeton is an infant also known as Boss Baby. He and his older brother, Timothy have to join forces in order to prevent Puppy Co, BabyCorp’s biggest enemy. The story is narrated from the point of view of a seven-year-old Tim and his struggles when a new baby comes into his family.

In the second installment, Ted and Tim are grown up, went their separate ways, and are somewhat estranged. However, some new problems arose and BabyCorp needs their help once again.

What is the best way to watch Boss Baby movies?

Boss Baby movies are best enjoyed by watching them in order of release, in my experience. This means starting with the first movie, then watching the second movie. By watching the movies in this order, you’ll be able to connect more with the characters and the storyline of the movies which is advisable. However, these movies are perfectly watchable as a stand-alone movie and you won’t miss much by doing so.

However, if you watch them in order of release, you get to see the relationship that Tim and Ted have when they are kids and how it develops from resentment and disagreement into a solid partnership and love and then in the second installment we can experience their relationship as adults who became estranged but eventually put their differences aside.

The instant sibling rivalry must soon be put aside when Tim discovers that Boss Baby is actually a spy on a secret mission, and only he can help thwart a dastardly plot that involves an epic battle between puppies and babies.

2. The Boss Baby 2: Family Business ( 2021 )

Summary: In the sequel to DreamWorks Animation’s Oscar®-nominated blockbuster comedy, the Templeton brothers–Tim (James Marsden, X-Men franchise) and his Boss Baby little bro Ted (Alec Baldwin)–have become adults and drifted away from each other. Tim is now a married stay-at-home dad. Ted is a hedge fund CEO. But a new boss baby with a cutting-edge approach and a can-do attitude is about to bring them together again… and inspire a new family business.

Do you need to watch Boss Baby movies in order?

You do not need to watch Boss Baby movies in order. These movies are perfectly watchable as stand-alone movies. However, if you watch them in order of their release, you’ll appreciate the relationship Tim and Ted have more. So, it is advisable that you watch them by their release date. That way, you’re really able to connect with the storyline and character development will make more sense. But it is not necessary.

Are Boss Baby movies connected?

Boss Baby movies are not connected. Each of these movies has its own storyline not dependent upon each other. The only thing that connects these two movies are brothers Timothy and Theodore who are children in the first movie and are grown-ups in the second installment. However, they become babies in the second movie also.

Will there be more Boss Baby movies?

It is possible that Boss Baby 3 will happen, but there are no official statements to confirm this yet. No official release date has been set for it and not much is known about it at the moment. However, Netflix released a TV series based on the film series, so you can watch it while you wait for the third movie.
