Brandon Sklenar Teases DCU Batman Buzz: “There’s Some Awareness of Me”

The DCU technically began with the animated series Creature Commandos, but both Safran and Gunn consider the upcoming Superman film to be the true launch of this new cinematic universe.

Several other projects have already been confirmed, including Lanterns live-action TV show focusing on a notable trio of Green Lanterns, and Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, with Milly Alcock set to play the DCU’s Supergirl. Additionally, Paradise Lost—a TV series exploring the lore of Themyscira and Wonder Woman’s origins—is also in development.

While some of the biggest roles in the DCU have been cast, including Superman, Lex Luthor, and Supergirl, one major question remains unanswered: Who will play Batman in this new universe?

One of the most popular fan-cast choices for the role of Batman is Brandon Sklenar, known for his performances in It Ends With Us, Westworld, and most recently, 1923.

Sklenar recently addressed these rumors and said he’s excited that fans are imagining him as Batman and thinks it’s really cool. He shared that playing Batman has been a dream of his since he was a kid, even though he never talked about it before.

Now that people are bringing it up, he’s hoping it might actually happen someday. If he ever got to be a superhero, Batman is the one he’d want to play.

“I mean, for Batman? [laughs] Let’s keep running with that! “He said.” That’s something I’ve wanted to do since I was a little kid — and I’ve never even talked about it — It just started happening and I was like, “This is cool!” And now, maybe, hopefully, it happens one day.“

“I’d love to do it. It’s literally a childhood dream to do something like that, specifically that character. If I [were] ever to do any type of thing in the superhero space, that’s what it would be.“

The actor also admitted he thinks DC Studios is somewhat aware that fans want him to play Batman, but he knows they’re still a long way from making a decision. He said both the kid and adult in him think it’s really exciting, and he even has some ideas for the role. Overall, he thinks it would be a cool opportunity.

“Yeah. I think there’s some awareness of me on some level, probably.” He continued. “But yeah, I know they’re a ways away from doing that. But yeah, obviously, the little kid in me, and the adult me is, like, “This is cool!” And I have a bunch of ideas. Anyway, it’d be cool.“
