‘Captain America: Brave New World’ Trailer Divides Fans: Sam Wilson Gets Praise Sabra Gets Hate and Calls For Boycott
Yesterday, the first teaser trailer for ‘Captain America: Brave New World’ was released, and the initial reactions have been incredibly divisive. This marks Sam Wilson’s debut as Captain America in his own standalone film, which endured a lengthy and tumultuous journey through development, including extensive and costly reshoots.
The trailer featured action-packed scenes, introduced Thunderbolt Ross as Red Hulk, gave a glimpse of Captain America in action as Falcon, and showcased other exciting elements. However, much of the criticism surrounding the movie appears unrelated to the footage shown.
First, addressing the positive reactions: Fans are eagerly anticipating how the movie will explore Sam Wilson’s non-super soldier status and his confrontation with Red Hulk. The inclusion of Red Hulk has been a long-awaited desire among fans for several years now.
Now, turning to the negative reactions: Much of the criticism centers on the inclusion of Sabra/Ruth in the movie, portrayed by Shira Hass. Fans are threatening to boycott the film primarily because of the character’s comic book background. Sabra is an Israeli superheroine and Mossad agent with enhanced strength, speed, agility, and senses due to genetic enhancements. The controversy stems from her association with Mossad, the Israeli intelligence agency.
Fans have been vocal about their objections to Sabra’s inclusion in ‘Captain America’ since her presence was first observed on set several months ago. In the film, Sabra will be depicted as a high-ranking official within the US government and enjoys the trust of President Ross. Additionally, her character is revealed to be a former Black Widow, as stated in her brief biography.
Because of the ongoing conflict between Palestine and Israel, many fans do not view her as a suitable addition to the movie. These are just a few examples of the negative reactions, with many more expressed online.

Unfortunately, some comments raise a valid concern: backlash against Sabra could overshadow the positive aspects of Wilson’s debut as Captain America, potentially leading fans to review-bomb the movie.
