‘Thor: Love and Thunder’ is widely seen as the weakest of Thor’s solo films in the MCU. Directed by Taika Waititi, it took a campy approach to Thor and his foe Gorr the God Butcher. This marked a significant departure from the more successful ‘Thor: Ragnarok.’

Chris Hemsworth admitted in an interview with Vanity Fair that he holds himself responsible for the movie’s shortcomings, regretting his role in mocking a beloved character.

Chris Hemsworth recognized that Marvel fans should get another ‘Thor’ movie after the letdown of ‘Thor: Love and Thunder’ in 2022. He had admitted before that the fourth movie was “too silly,” and it still weighs on him.

I got caught up in the improv and the wackiness, and I became a parody of myself. I didn’t stick the landing.

Hemsworth also confessed that he always felt his co-stars in the ‘Avengers’ movies had much cooler things to do.

Sometimes I felt like a security guard for the team. I would read everyone else’s lines, and go, ‘Oh, they got way cooler stuff. They’re having more fun. What’s my character doing? It was always about, ‘You’ve got the wig on. You’ve got the muscles. You’ve got the costume. Where’s the lighting?’ Yeah, I’m part of this big thing, but I’m probably pretty replaceable.

It’s ironic that Hemsworth feels that way, considering he’s among the few Avengers still active in the MCU and has starred in four standalone movies, with a fifth on the horizon. Yes, ‘Thor 5’ is in the works, and recent rumors suggest it will depart from the campy tone. The upcoming film is said to be much darker, with talks of Gareth Edwards directing.

Production for Thor 5 is scheduled to start in late 2025, led by Marvel Studios. The movie is expected to have a different feel, with Thor going back to Valhalla to get his powers back. Fans can also look forward to finally seeing Beta Ray Bill.

There are rumors that Thor Corps and Amora the Enchantress might show up in the MCU for the first time in this film. Amora is a big villain from the comics and is thought to connect to Secret Wars, while Thor Corps could bring a multiverse angle to the story.

Including Thor Corps is crucial for the upcoming ‘Secret Wars.’ Whatever the movie turns out to be, it surely can’t be worse than the campy Gorr. Got something to share? Drop it in the comments below!
