In this article, we’re not going to talk about one exact ship from the series, but we are going to talk about romance, as Valentine’s Day is the main topic of this article. What interests us is who Ayanokoji got his Valentine’s chocolate from, and in this article, we are going to tell you all you need to know about this scene.

  • Article Breakdown:
  • In Classroom of the Elite, there is a tradition that people who like a person give that person a small package of chocolates; sometimes, it is done in secret, but many do it openly, despite a possible rejection.
  • Initially, Kiyotaka did not receive chocolates from anyone, which wasn’t surprising, but he had a secret meeting with Kei during the afternoon; Kei had just “broken up” with Hirata.
  • As he was leaving after the meeting, Kei gave him a package of chocolates, saying that it was just a comfort because he had not received any and that it was initially for Hirata; this was a lie.

Ayanokoji initially received no chocolates

As the Classroom of the Elite series revealed, there is a tradition in the Advanced Nurturing High School that – on Valentine’s Day – students who like someone give that person a package of chocolates as proof of their affection. This is done either openly or secretly, as there is a possibility that the receiver refuses the chocolates. The process is not complicated, but there are emotions involved, and it can get… messy.

A lot of students care a lot about this event, while others don’t pay much attention to it. One of the latter is, of course, Kiyotaka Ayanokoji, and that doesn’t really surprise us, knowing his personality. The night before, Ayanokoji turned off his phone, and in the morning, he saw a message from Airi, who wanted to meet in private (probably to give him chocolate), but since he was running late, he did not have the time, so she just said it was not important, and a missed call from Kei, with whom he made an arrangement to meet her later that evening.

As he was heading to school, he met Hirata, who was also running late; Hirata had recently “broken up” with Kei, and this caused a major uproar among the girls (you can read more about the true nature of their relationship in our article), who flocked around him and started giving him chocolates. When Kiyotaka and Hirata met a larger group of girls with chocolates for the latter, the former simply slipped away as he wanted to get away from the commotion. In school, he did not receive any chocolates, which is also not surprising, and after it was done, at five, he went to meet Kei in private.

Classroom of the Elite: Who Is Maya Satō?

Kei later gave him a package, lying that it was just to comfort him

The meeting started off as usual, as the two talked and exchanged some information. Kiyotaka wanted to know about an unknown number, and Kei agreed to investigate, as she herself did not know whose number it was. They then discuss the exam, and Kei asks Ayanokoji to teach her; he suggests other names, including Hirata’s, but they reach the conclusion that it would be difficult, so he agrees, but only at night. With that, the conversation seemed to be over, and Kiyotaka was heading back when Kei stopped him and asked him what day it was.

He did not even have the time to answer as he felt something light hit him, only to discover it was a package of chocolates. Kei teased him that they were initially for Hirata, but since they had “broken up,” she decided to give it to him out of pity; namely, she knew that Kiyotaka did not get any chocolates that day, so since she had a spare package, she decided to comfort him. This was, of course, a lie, but if you want to know more about the relationship between Ayanokoji and Kei, you can read our article on the topic.

And that about covers it. So yes, Kiyotaka ended up receiving a package of chocolate for Valentine’s Day, and it was from Kei, although she lied about the real reasons behind her gifting him.
