The third season of Classroom of the Elite is finally starting, and we on Fiction Horizon will be covering the anime but also talking about some other concepts and characters from the series as we are going to explain some burning questions about the series. This article is going to be dedicated to a specific character, as we are going to tell you her story and her importance for the series. The character in question is Maya Satō, who once again became the focus of the story due to the rumor that she hates Kayano Onodera. Does she? Why? And why is Maya Satō even important? All of these questions and more will be answered in this article.

  • Article Breakdown:
  • Maya Satō is a secondary character from Classroom of the Elite and a member of Class 1-D. She seems to be a friendly and kind girl and is very popular in class.
  • Despite the fact that she simps over boys who impress her, she doesn’t have any experience in dating, which is why she asked her best friend, Kei, for advice.
  • She is hopelessly in love with Ayanokoji, which causes a temporary rift in her friendship with Kei, but the two have since rekindled their close friendship.

Maya Satō is a popular girl with a very layered story

The characters of Classroom of the Elite are intriguing; we can confirm that. They have their own stories and their own motivations, and although the series focuses on some of them, even the secondary characters are more than intriguing. In this article, we are going to analyze one such character – Maya Satō – who is not really irrelevant and who had several important moments in the story (especially in later volumes), despite the series not focusing on her that much (which is a real shame, if you ask us). So, who is Maya Satō?

Well, long story short, Maya Satō is a secondary character from Classroom of the Elite, a member of Class 1-D, and one of the most popular girls in class. She is considered to be pretty by her peers and due to her friendly demeanor and approach, the other girls were often jealous of her. But, she is not a manipulative character, not the least, and she genuinely does seem to be friendly, although she can joke and tease her friends from time to time, but never out of malice.

During her early academic career, Maya Satō was a great student, but as she grew, she cherished fun and her friends more than studying, so her grades declined for a while; they are currently on a steady level, but she is not one of the better students in the class. As we have said, her character wasn’t explored that deeply, but there are two important things that we have to discuss here – her relationship with Ayanokoji, and her relationship with Kei. We’ll start with the latter.

Does Maya Satō like Ayanokoji? Why did she go out on a date with him?

Kei and Maya Satō bonded relatively quickly and became, more or less, the best of friends. Despite her friendly demeanor, Maya Satō had little experience in interpersonal relationships, and while she did know how to show a boy that she liked him, she did not go on any dates and did not know how to behave around a boy properly. This is why she asked Kei for advice before she finally went out on a date with Ayanokoji.

She likes him a lot, and despite the fact that he has rejected her twice, she still harbors feelings for him, and she said to Kei that she would take him from her if she ever decided to break up with him. Despite the fact that she was keeping a cool face in front of others, she was very insecure about herself, and she took the rejection quite hard but managed to recover.

The events surrounding Ayanokoji and Kei becoming a couple also caused a rift between Kei and Maya, but the two of them managed to rekindle their friendship over time, and they became friends once again. Despite her own affection towards Ayanokoji, Maya is genuinely happy for him and Kei and often teases her friend about it in a friendly way. Once, when she crossed the line by suggesting that Kei could cheat on Kiyotaka, she apologized and said that she was aware that Kei’s feelings for Kiyotaka were genuine.

And that is more or less the gist of Maya’s story. She is definitely an interesting character, and we’re sad that she is not getting more screen time, but she remains an important part of the series’ cast.
