Daisy Ridley to Play MMA Fighter Bryony Tyrell in Biopic ‘Killa Bee’

Daisy Ridley is set to star as MMA fighter Bryony Tyrell in a new biopic called Killa Bee, according to Deadline.

Ridley, who trained in MMA for her role in Martin Campbell’s action film The Cleaner and famously performed her own stunts as Rey in Star Wars, will take on the challenge of portraying the real-life fighter.

The film will be directed by Kenton Oxley, with a script written by Ruth Sewell. Knockout Productions is producing the movie alongside Picture Perfect and Moviehouse Entertainment. Lucinda Thakrar, Mark Vennis, and executive producer Michael Foster are among the producers on the project.

Killa Bee follows the life of Bryony Tyrell, a mother of two who balanced working in an ICU with pursuing a professional MMA career.

Tyrell, who holds a master’s degree in nursing and a degree in molecular biology, began kickboxing while at university and eventually earned a black belt. She started competing as an amateur before moving into professional MMA and has won several belts.

Ridley shared her excitement about playing Tyrell. “Bryony’s story is one of extraordinary courage and resilience. I was deeply moved by her emotional and empowering journey. I can’t wait to bring her spirit to the screen,” she said.

The producers noted that Tyrell has been involved in the project from the beginning. “Bryony Tyrell has been involved in the project with Kenton Oxley since the beginning and is supportive of her inspirational story being brought to the screen. She is actively consulting on the project.”

“The scripting process has been shaped in close dialogue with Bryony’s family, ensuring emotional truth and creative integrity at every turn. Director Kenton, a longtime friend of Bryony’s since their school days, brings a deeply personal lens to the story—one rooted in trust, history, and fierce creative loyalty,” they said.

Nathan Wang, the international sales manager who helped secure the deal, also commented on the project. “It’s a true honor to be working on this highly original, raw, inspirational, and ultimately unforgettable project. It’s our first time partnering with Daisy Ridley, and we cannot wait to see her bring Bryony’s grit, vulnerability and sheer inspirational drive to the screen.”

Killa Bee promises to tell the story of a woman balancing family, work, and high-level athletic competition, offering both action and inspiration.
