Despite ‘Creature Commandos’ being released earlier, Gunn & Safrain highlighted that they view the upcoming ‘Superman’ as the true beginning of the DCU. Directed and written by James Gunn, this film serves as the first entry in the DCU and a reboot of the ‘Superman’ film series.

David Corenswet takes on the role of Clark Kent/Superman, alongside a cast featuring Rachel Brosnahan, Isabela Merced, Edi Gathegi, Nathan Fillion, Anthony Carrigan, María Gabriela de Faría, Sara Sampaio, Skyler Gisondo, Nicholas Hoult, Terence Rosemore, and Wendell Pierce. The movie delves into Superman’s journey as he grapples with reconciling his alien heritage with his human family.

Regarding the story, during the DCU reveal, Gunn mentioned that the inspiration for the upcoming movie comes from ‘All-Star Superman.’ However, Superman’s costume draws inspiration from Alex Ross’ art, and the logo at the table reading resembles that of ‘Kingdom Come’ Superman.

At the recent convention, Corenswet was engaged in answering fan questions and signing shirts. The Direct’s Senior Editor had the chance to talk about the upcoming story with him.

Corenswet described the story as a blend of ‘For All Seasons’ and ‘All-Star Superman,’ infused with Gunn’s personal touch.

In ‘All-Star Superman,’ Superman gains immense power after a mission near the sun, but learns he has only a year left to live. The series follows his efforts to complete his tasks and face mortality, battling foes like Lex Luthor while reflecting on his life and legacy.

On the other hand, ‘Superman: For All Seasons’ is divided into four parts, each centered on a different season and narrated by characters from Superman’s life. It explores his early years in Smallville and his transition to Metropolis.

If the upcoming reboot captures the essence of these beloved stories, fans are sure to be thrilled. Got something to share? Let us know in the comments below!
