‘Delphi’ Just Assembled Its Full Cast, and the ‘Creed’ Universe on Prime Video Is Shaping Up to Be Something Special
The ‘Rocky’ and ‘Creed’ film franchise has spent nearly five decades building one of cinema’s most beloved sporting mythologies, and for years there has been a persistent desire from both fans and filmmakers to see that world extend beyond the multiplex. That ambition is now becoming a reality in a very concrete way, with Amazon Prime Video’s first live-action series set inside the franchise heading into production in Los Angeles this week.
The Delphi Boxing Academy is the Los Angeles-based gym founded by Tony “Duke” Evers, where Apollo Creed trained for many years, and the location sits at the very emotional heart of everything the franchise has built. ‘Delphi’ the series was first announced at Amazon’s upfront presentation in May 2025, and it has been steadily gathering momentum since. Across three films, the ‘Creed’ franchise has grossed more than $660 million at the worldwide box office, with ‘Creed III’ alone taking in $276 million during its 2023 run.
Now the series has officially revealed who will be stepping through those gym doors. Variety has confirmed that Benji Santiago, Juan Castrano, Demián Bichir, André Holland, Andre Royo, Sofia Black-D’Elia, and Victoria Vourkoutiotis have all joined ‘Delphi’ as series regulars. The ensemble brings together a genuinely exciting mix of talent, spanning Broadway veterans, prestige drama heavyweights, and actors whose careers have cut across everything from ‘The Wire’ to ‘The Hateful Eight.’
The casting detail that has generated the most immediate excitement, however, is the return of a recognizable face from the films themselves. Wood Harris, who played Delphi Gym trainer Tony “Little Duke” Evers across all three ‘Creed’ movies, will reprise his role in a recurring capacity, serving as the essential connective thread between the film universe and this television expansion. His Little Duke is described as the legendary trainer of Apollo Creed who now takes on the gym’s new generation of contenders, with the character carrying the weight of that storied lineage into every scene.
The wider recurring cast includes Niles Fitch as Dante, Dasan Frazier as Remy, Graham Patrick Martin as Jackson, Brittany Adebumola as Mina, Rene Moran as Iggy, Okieriete Onaodowan as Freddie, and Breanna Yde as Ana. One outlet has already drawn comparisons to ‘Cobra Kai,’ noting the series carries a similarly hooky premise built around a legendary training institution and the complicated personalities it attracts.
Behind the camera, the creative team is equally well-assembled. Showrunner Marco Ramirez brings serious television pedigree to the project, with credits spanning ‘Daredevil,’ ‘The Defenders,’ ‘Fear the Walking Dead,’ ‘Sons of Anarchy,’ and ‘Orange Is the New Black,’ as well as his more recent boxing drama ‘La Máquina’ for Hulu. Michael B. Jordan is executive producing through his Outlier Society banner, and when he announced the series at the Amazon upfront last year, he framed the show as a return to the franchise’s roots, centered on themes of family, hard work, and fighting for something greater than oneself.
Amazon is actively building out multiple lanes of the broader Creed universe simultaneously, with a separate series following Adonis Creed’s daughter Amara also in development, signalling serious long-term ambitions for the IP beyond any single project. ‘Delphi’ is first in line to land the punch, and with cameras now rolling and a cast this stacked, the real question is whether you think this gym has what it takes to produce the next great sports drama on streaming.
