‘Detective Conan: One-Eyed Flashback’ Is Japan’s Biggest 2025 Film So Far

Detective Conan: One-eyed Flashback is the 28th Detective Conan movie, and we have been reporting on how well the movie has been doing in Japan since its April 18, 2025 premiere.
The movie has already broken several franchise records, as we have reported, getting the biggest opening and biggest weekend numbers for the franchise in total ,and is on track to become the most successful movie in the whole franchise.
But, there is also a much bigger result the movie has achieved, and we are happy to report on that in this article!
Not that long ago, we reported that the Detective Conan: One-Eyed Flashback movie set the opening-day franchise record with 1.05 billion yen (about US$7.4 million) earned and 690,000 tickets sold. Later, we confirmed that the movie earned 3,438,626,700 yen (about US$24.15 million) over the first weekend and sold 2,314,690 tickets, surpassing the previous record held by Detective Conan: The Million-dollar Pentagram.
Now, the numbers from Japan confirm that the movie has earned about 6,340,000,000 yen (about US$44.39 million) after less than two weeks in Japanese theaters. This number makes it the most successful 2025 movie in Japanese theaters.
And while it still has a lot to beat the 15 billion yen earned by The Million-dollar Pentagram, the movie is already a hit and even if it does not break the franchise record, it will still remain as one of the franchise’s most successful outings.
One-eyed Flashback is directed by Katsuya Shigehara in his Conan directorial debut after working as unit director on Black Iron Submarine in 2022. It was written by Takeharu Sakurai, who has penned several Conan films.
