Did ‘Agatha All Along’ Just Give Us Our First Glimpse of the MCU’s Blackheart?

Agatha All Along premiered its first two episodes, and while audiences are enjoying it, critics are more divided. The show picks up after the events of WandaVision, with Agatha (still under her Agnes persona) trapped by the spell Scarlet Witch cast. However, she’s soon freed by a character named Locke’s The Teen.

The Teen and Agatha form an uneasy alliance, as both have a shared goal: walking the Witches’ Road. The Teen seeks power, while Agatha, now powerless, is determined to reclaim what she’s lost.

One of the first supporting characters we meet in Agatha All Along is Aubrey Plaza’s Rio Vidal, confirmed before the show’s release as a green witch, which adds an intriguing layer to the story. To traverse the Witches’ Road, Agatha needs a coven, so she reconnects with old “friends” and “acquaintances.” One of these is Lilia Calderu (played by Patti LuPone), a witch who gives Agatha a list of potential recruits. Among the names is a mysterious symbol: a black heart.

Agatha assumes the black heart represents a green witch, possibly Mrs. Hart (Debra Jo Rupp), but Rio Vidal, also a green witch, complicates things. The heart could symbolize Agatha and Rio’s complex romantic history, which has been hinted at throughout the show. While Agatha explains the symbol as a result of Lilia using a black pen, it might suggest something far more sinister—possibly a connection to Mephisto.

Mephisto has already been rumored to appear in the series, but what if his son, Blackheart, is also set to appear in a gender-bent version? In the comics, Blackheart was born from the concentrated evil of Christ’s Crown, New York, a place steeped in dark energies from centuries of human sin. Mephisto created Blackheart as his heir, teaching him to corrupt everything and everyone around him.

As a demon, Blackheart wields immense powers, including dark magic, reality manipulation, superhuman strength, speed, and endurance, as well as teleportation and telepathy. He has clashed with Ghost Rider frequently, and with rumors of Ghost Rider’s MCU debut—alongside characters like Jennifer Kale and other supernatural references—Agatha All Along may be setting up a Midnight Sons project.

So, who could Blackheart be? The obvious choice is Rio Vidal, given her dangerous aura, but it’s also possible that Mrs. Hart, who appears unaware of her powers, could turn out to be an ancient demon in disguise.
