Did Glen Powell Just Confirm He’s Joining Gunn’s DCU as the New Batman?

James Gunn will be extremely busy in the coming years. When he and Peter Safran took over DC Studios and rebooted the DCEU into the new DCU, they unveiled an ambitious slate of projects, including ‘The Brave and the Bold’ Batman movie.

While we’ve heard a lot about the upcoming ‘Superman’ film, with all major roles cast and even a new Supergirl announced, the casting for Batman remains shrouded in mystery. Despite occasional rumors, we still don’t know who will be the DCU’s Dark Knight.

Several names have been suggested by fans for the role, with Alan Ritchson, Jensen Ackles, and Glen Powell leading the popularity race. The case for Powell as Batman has gained traction due to several hints on social media.

Recently, the ‘Anyone but You’ star began following both James Gunn and Andy Muschietti, who is set to direct the upcoming Batman film.

On its own, this means little, but it gains significance when considering some comments Powell made a few months ago. The actor expressed disinterest in Oscar-bait films or superhero roles, particularly those in the MCU. However, he did mention that he would like to play a different take on Batman.

I was always a Batman guy. […]I would have a wild take on Batman. It definitely would not be like a Matt Reeves tone – it’d probably be closer to Keaton. Oh, sick!

However, Powell has already had a minor role in one of the best Batman movies of all time:

I get my head smashed in by Bane in ‘The Dark Knight Rises.’

We’re still some time away from discovering the next DCU Batman, but right now, Powell seems to have a strong chance.
