Director of ‘Captain America 4’ Says the Action in the Movie Will Be Exciting Due to Lack of Super Soldier Serum
‘Captain America: Brave New World’ is the fourth installment in the MCU’s ‘Captain America’ series. Even though Steve Rogers retired from the MCU on a high note, the story continues with Sam Wilson taking up the shield.
This change has split the fandom—some fans are upset and puzzled by the decision to have the former Falcon become Captain America, especially since Wilson doesn’t have superpowers like Rogers did.
Julius Onah, director of the upcoming superhero film, has a unique perspective on the matter. He believes that the absence of superpowers is what makes Wilson’s Captain America particularly thrilling. The idea that he’s vulnerable and can be injured will lead to some incredibly dynamic action scenes. Onah shared his thoughts in the latest issue of Empire’s ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’.
The action in this movie is incredibly exciting because this is a guy who can break, this is a guy who can bleed. We get to have a lot of fun pushing him to the limit.
Just a heads-up, ‘Brave New World’ had a rough development ride, partly because it didn’t resonate well with test audiences. The film underwent extensive reshoots and significant script revisions. While nothing has been officially confirmed, rumors suggest that test audiences found the action in the upcoming film to be lacking compared to previous entries in the franchise. Additionally, Mackie’s chemistry with his upcoming romantic interest was reportedly lacking, and the movie’s political themes were deemed dull.
Whether Onah is simply promoting the movie or being genuine remains to be seen. ‘Captain America: Brave New World’ is set to hit theaters in the United States on February 14, 2025, as part of Phase Five of the MCU.
