‘Captain America: Brave New World’ – What We Know: Plot, Cast, Release Date, and More

‘Captain America: Brave New World’ is highly anticipated in the MCU. Development resumed after the SAG-AFTRA strike, and despite expectations of delays, the film’s release date was moved to February 15, 2025.

At CinemaCon, details about the plot and execution emerged, prompting a closer look at what’s known about the movie.

Sam Wilson: A Man on a Mission to Reassemble the Avengers

At CinemaCon, attendees were treated to exclusive footage featuring Sam Wilson in action, Harrison Ford as Thunderbolt Ross, and the new Captain America suit. The clip shows Wilson meeting President Ross at the White House, where Ross suggests reuniting the Avengers under a new Captain America. However, there are hints of Ross having hidden agendas.

Chaos ensues during a meeting when a mysterious villain takes control, leading to action-packed scenes of Wilson defending himself against Secret Service agents. Wilson and Joaquín Torres team up in action sequences, culminating in a tense confrontation between Wilson and Ross. Wilson acknowledges he’s not Steve Rogers before donning the new silver and blue Captain America suit. Mackie emphasized that the movie will be fast-paced, grounded, and centered on Sam Wilson.

That’s the official word. Recent rumors suggested the Serpent Society would be in the movie, but they were reportedly cut. King Cobra was also supposed to appear as a minor villain. Other rumors suggest Tiamut’s head and left hand will have a bigger role. Initial test screenings hinted that the action wasn’t up to par with previous ‘Captain America’ films, and the political themes and romantic subplot were lacking and dull.

A Key Player Will Be Absent from the Film

The cast for the upcoming project includes Anthony Mackie as Sam Wilson/Captain America, Danny Ramirez as Joaquín Torres/Falcon, Tim Blake Nelson as Samuel Sterns/Leader, Carl Lumbly as Isaiah Bradley, Harrison Ford as President Thaddeus Ross, Shira Haas as Ruth Bat-Seraph/Sabra, Liv Tyler as Doctor Betty Ross, Rosa Salazar as Rachel Leighton/Diamondback, Xosha Roquemore, Seth Rollins, Giancarlo Esposito and Kapil Talwalkar in undisclosed roles.

Recently, it was confirmed that Sebastian Stan won’t be returning for the upcoming installment. Mark Ruffalo initially confirmed the Hulk’s appearance, but later retracted his statement, clarifying that he misspoke.

Film’s Release Set After Multiple Delays

‘Captain America: Brave New World” is scheduled to premiere in the United States on February 14, 2025, as part of Phase Five of the MCU. Initially, it swapped release dates with ‘Deadpool & Wolverine,’ but due to various issues, including the SAG-AFTRA strike, it was postponed for nearly a year. Want to share your thoughts?
