We’re midway through ‘X-Men ’97’ now, and fans are buzzing with excitement, calling it Marvel Studios’ best in a while. Episode 5 really hit home, stirring up some wild reactions. Genosha gets hit, and Magneto and Gambit make a heroic sacrifice to fend off the Sentinels and take down Mister Mold.

Meanwhile, Cyclops and Jean’s relationship hits a rough patch as secrets unravel—Cyclops’ telepathic chats with Madelyne come to light, while Jean feels a pull towards Wolverine. Just a taste of the drama from this week’s episode!

After Genosha was destroyed, people online had all sorts of ideas about who might be responsible, from Mystique to Mr. Sinister. One theory caught attention: Cassandra Nova, a villain set to appear in the upcoming ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ movie. In the comics, Cassandra Nova’s tied to a mutant genocide, so linking her to ‘X-Men ’97’ and ‘Deadpool 3’ wouldn’t be too out there.

But it seems Cassandra Nova isn’t the culprit. Jake Castorena, the supervising producer/head director, set the record straight in an interview with Inverse, revealing that fans shouldn’t expect Nova to be the ultimate villain.

I wouldn’t get my hopes up for Cassandra Nova being a huge villain in our show. But what I will say is, I don’t think people will be disappointed with our choices.

The show’s creator, Beau DeMayo, has been upfront about his intentions for the recent change in tone. He aims to convey to viewers that no place is truly safe. Additionally, he teased that episodes 8-10 will pack a punch.

The series is receiving high praise, with many fans advocating for DeMayo to return as a writer for Marvel and have creative control over the upcoming live-action ‘X-Men’ reboot.
